About
Sekumpul Waterfall is touted as the most beautiful waterfall in Bali. It is fairly close to Niagara Falls Lemukih, only about 2 km away. Understandably, the Village and Village Lemukih Sekumpul indeed neighbors. To see Sekumpul Waterfall close, it takes a bit of effort and struggle. From the parking lot, you have to walk quite far away, down a dirt road, down the hundreds of stairs, and across the river. When you ride a motorcycle, you can still ride from the parking lot (near the ticket window), to the end of the road paving. After paving the way out, the road turned into a narrow dirt road (footpath). Not long down the path, you arrived at a blank bale (gazebo) with Niagara Falls Sekumpul incredible lure.

We did an early morning dolphin tour with friendly Kadek lovina. We left before sunrise and Kadek brought some banana cakes (made by his wife) ans coffee and tea. Yes there are many other boats with the same purpose but where those are chasing the dolphins, Karta stays on a respectful distance from the animals. His words: "the dolphins like the more quiet waters". So in the end a lot of dolphins passed by our boat and we saw many!
After this we went snorkeling, coloured fish everywhere.
He charges the regular price.

Sekumpul waterfall is the most scenic natural waterfall in the whole of Bali. The road from Wanagiri Hidden Hills to Sekumpul waterfall is curvy and it took us around an hour to reach. After we reached the car parking site, we did a nature hike through the Sekumpul village for around 1.5 h one way. The hike involves a good deal of effort. We hear the water roar from hundreds of meters away and our first glimpse of these magnificent falls blew us away.

It was more than worth the ride (1h from Lovina) and the walk (about 20 mins). It's actually three different waterfalls - Hidden waterfalls, the main (Sekumpul) waterfalls, and Fiji waterfalls. So count on spending several hours there. At the parking area you can get a ticket and a guide (at the moment 120k for Hidden+Sekumpul; 200k for all three). Paying for entry is fair enough because a lot was invested into making and maintaining the paths for the visit, and locals should definitely benefit from the tourism in their village. The guide was extremely helpful, showing us and helping us with water crossings and telling us where it was safe to swim.

any FAKE registration points 15-20mins distance to waterfall. Pay only at Central Parking‼️We had a terrible situation, the young locals stopped our bike at fake registration point and demanded money, for 30mins they kept, threaten us and won’t let pass on our bike unless another people on bike came and together we got through. The cars they were not able to stop, so if you are on the bike you should pass that ‘young monkey businessmen’ without stopping or say that you are not going to waterfall, just going to some other place!!! Thought the waterfall is wonderful. Paint at Waterfall Central Parking you will get a guide, he will show you everything and will make many good photos.

So i was under prepared for the hike was not expecting it. The walk down is not as hard going as the work back but equally the steps are steep going down so you have to be mindful, way back is twice as hard and I had to take a few breaks on the way, lets just say my legs were shaking by the end of it, however the reward of the falls was well work it, totally amazing and further more there were hardly any tourist there when i was there which made it more magical, so great pictures taking. Must do if you are able to do so, happy travels.

The walk to the falls took around 45 minutes. Quite steep in some places along with some very narrow paths and uneven steps. Not recommended for very young children or those with any physical injuries/disabilities that would hinder your ability to navigate the paths safely. Having said that you dont need to be super fit either. Our guide "John" was very attentive and kept us all safe during the walk, advising us how to safely navigate the walk. The scenery was magnificent and the waterfalls were spectacular. You can swim in them if you dare (the water is very cold). Definitely worth a visit.

Hi, is it possible to reach this waterfall with a 5 month old whom we will be carrying in a baby carrier or is the hike too risky with baby? Thanks in advance for your time.

It will be a tough journey as you need to carry up and down to reach the fall

If you are referring to the price of having the guide, then yes. That is the approximate cost.

Bonjour,
Est-ce que certains guides que nous sommes apparemment quasi obligé de prendre parlent français ?

Je l'ai fait sans prendre de guide et je suis une femme seule, ce n'est pas une obligation. Ils insistent pour gagner de l'argent mais inutile

How can you stop the locals forcing you and threatening you to hire a guide?

Difficult question. When I travelled both my guesthouse and driver told me that going on my own was not an option. Since I was travelling solo I just decided it was best for me to go with a guide, though I realized once I got there that the itinerary is pretty straight and you wouldn't actually need anybody to guide you. I saw 3 guys on their own at the Fiji Falls taking videos with a drone so I guess there is a way to get around the several guide huts and stops, but I wouldn't know where from.

Hallo zusammen,
Lisa
Hi,
We are thinking about going from Ubud to Sekumpul and then stay the night in Sekumpul.
What would you recommend - how to get to the entrance of the waterfall?
How much does this cost?
Where would you recommend us to stay the night (and leave the backpacks before starting the walk to the Sekumpul waterfalls)
I would really appreciate your help,
Regards,
Lisa

We have booked a one day tour with a private guide, so we have visited 2 temples, a market and the rice fields of Jaliwuti during this day for about 60€. The entrance to Waterfalls seems very expensive if you book a special guide to go until to the bottom of the waterfalls from the beginning of the path (about 15€). If you are good walkers, you do not need a guide, but the inhabitants try to make you sure you need him. If you go without a guide, you have to pay an entrance less expensive on the way to the falls. It is about 20 minutes to go down to the waterfalls, but 45 minutes to come back. And you need good shoes.
I have no idea of a place to stay for the night and to leave your backpacks.
Viele Grüsse aus Frankreich une eine gute Reise in Bali

If you partially fit, not much of a hiker would you recommend this? How is it coming up (gradient) and how long does it take you to come up?

Sorry for the delay, I see you received already quite a lot of comments. I confirm it is not a difficult hike. It takes approx 15 min to the first waterfall and another 15-20 min to the second one called Fiji. So total return 45 minutes but mind the 300 steep steps on the way back.

Are we need to pay for waterfall?
FoodTravellerBali

Yes you need to pay entrance to the village where the waterfall is situated , and if you want to see both waterfalls in the valley you have to pay twice because the 2nd waterfall is just in another village.
