My wife was keen to buy gifts for friends and families.

This meant looking at market stalls at Kuta Shopping Street.

Rows of different stalls, lot of them selling the same stuff so it is worth haggling.

What do you say - after a while here all the shopping feels a bit the same !
Lots of stalls but lots of repitition . Shopkeepers are friendly and happy to have a chat and play the bargain game !
Does get very hot though!!

Friendly warm people, not as pushy as I remember the from 12 years ago. The only people to watch are the money changers, if the deal sounds to good to true it always is.

I believe it is! Alongside Kuta Street, you can contently shopping a lot of cute things like necklace, bracelet, hats and beach accessories.

We enjoyed the experience of this vibey street. We didn't shop much here, things were still pricey compared to the other places we had been to.

Shop owners weren't so in your face and very willing to drop their price. It was very hot but we enjoyed our shopping experience.

Shopped for thongs, asking price well above Australian prices E.g. 45 dollars for fake thongs, vendors become aggressive if try to haggle for a reasonable price, abusive if you leave without buying. This shopping is definitely for tourists who have just stepped off the plane and don’t know better. A lot of filthy merchandise on Poppies lane. Will use lots of tricks to cheat you, and they know them all. Crowded with dangerous traffic for pedestrians. Give Kuta beach shopping a big miss.

Be VERY careful if you buy anything from this boutique. The staff seem lovely and friendly, but it’s a ruse to make you feel comfortable while they use slight of hand and many other tricks to overcharge tired, scared, confused customers. They take advantage of customer’s not being used to the Balinese currency with many deliberate tricks. My sister was robbed of $90,but we went back and challenged them and got her money,(which had been hidden UNDER the money drawer). We gave them the benefit of the doubt, but a few days later, they tricked me out of an extra $20,(also hidden under the drawer when I went back to challenge them). I also got my money back from them, but there was LOTS of other money hidden under the drawer.

It was my first time visiting Bali last week. The weather is nice, the food is good, the views and the beaches are great. Overall the experience was good except for the aggressive seller we encountered during our shopping time in Kuta street area. The first price they asking for a simple sleeveless tee was 245,000 rupiah (about $24.50) which was ridiculously expensive as we could easily buy this type of tee in Malaysia for RM15. Thinking that my friend highly unlikely to buy the tee, I wanna ease the situation by going for another beach shirt which he offered me 275,000 rupiah initially and I managed to buy it after a long bargaining process at the price of 190,000 rupiah. In the end my friend really decided not to buy the sleeveless tee, and the seller's face immediately turned sour and his boss shouted at us when we leaving quickly from the shop, despite I have actually bought the beach shirt from them. The whole process actually made me feel uncomfortable and tiring. Well, if you enjoy the bargaining process while shopping then maybe you would enjoy shopping in Kuta street. We also noticed there are some rats around the rubbish bin along the Kuta street.
