If you are pressed by time and can not see other Kecak dances, this one is okay because it is located near the I Gusti Ngurah Rai by pass in Denpasar. But the quality of the actors and actresses are just so so and many times the spectators keep speaking in the whole performance so we can not appreciate the dance theater well.

A highly entertaining (if a little risque at times, given the number of children present) dance drama, The Barong and Kris Dance portrays a local traditional good versus evil tale. Entry costs 100,000 rupiah (roughly £5), and you are handed a pamphlet on entry, explaining the story through the various acts. The dancers and actors are accompanied by a gamelan orchestra throughout the show and there is a bit of banter with the locals in the audience; usually accompanied by roars of laughter. I did find it entertaining but thought that it must have been spoiled for some; as they crammed people in after the show had started, even on to the stage itself, spoiling the view of those in the front rows. You can have photographs taken with the participants at the end of the show, but they will look for tips.

Act of mahabharat characters but Wrong description as Sehdeva was son of kunti and not daughter haha. Dance is traditional and amazing music which is played during the act. Good but only boring part was language. They never translated anything in english and were speaking in local language. Most of the people were looking at each other as they never understood the comversation.

We went there believing the indonesian website that there is a performance at 6 30 pm... only to find out the place is completely empty!! Careless with their website information, shame, now we will not see the dance as it was our last night on Bali!! And money wasted on taxi to go to this place in the middle of nowhere!!

This was a great cultural event. It is a must see on your Balli trip. Make sure you bring bug spray.

Performance was ok, 100000pp to enter, an outline of dance was given in English (and other languages), very warm as an outdoor theatre. There was some I believe inappropriate parts to the dance (which Im sure are to get the tourists and wouldnt be part of the REAL story) ie pulling/chopping the monkey's tail which was appearing to be something else??!? You were required to fill out an entry form to win a prize - which I wasnt keen on doing - but the lady noticed I put it away and came and asked for it....

Post show, you can have your photos taken with the performers but they require a tip - we werent aware of this, and the character put his hand out and so did the musician...who then threw back the coin we gave them as it wasn't much, and asked for notes!

So we "WON" a prize, as we received a phone call to our hotel room saying so...It just required to use to visit a hotel for lunch - it screamed TIMESHARE to me! And I was correct, I spoke to our driver who took us to the show!

Bus loads of tourists come here. The music was good but dance was just OK. They have sheets in many languages to help you understand the story. 100,000 per person. Performers take photos with you for tips afterward.

Our guide asked us if we wanted to see a dance show, and we said yes. This was a real kick. We have seen many staged dance performances for "European" tourists and although they may be lovely, they are often very formal and very lengthy. This place caters primarily to domestic tourists; residents of Indonesia or neighboring countries who are familiar with the mythology behind the dances. It is a very informal presentation, with lots of asides to the audience (which we couldn't understand, but everyone else was laughing at). Definitely not your typical dance performance. Although the place was packed, there were probably only 20 non-locals in the audience. We enjoyed watching the audience as much as the show. Lots of local kids, who squealed with delight. There is a one-page explanation in English of the plot of the dance/play. We liked it just because it wasn't a typical show. Very glad we went.
