Despite having a return ticket with Semaya One, we couldn’t bring ourselves to repeat such an awful journey. Instead we bought another ticket with Blue Water Express. Best decision. This was a much better experience! Staff were friendly and helpful. Communication great with WhatsApp comms before travelling. Despite a bumpy passage over, the boat felt safe, left on time and arrived early. Would definitely recommend this company! A little more expensive than others but 100% worth it.

After reading the horror stories of some boat companies I was dreading this. I really shouldn’t have worried. I booked a shared transfer from ubud to Padangbai. They text the day before to confirm the collection time from our hotel.
On arrival the port they checked us and our luggage in and we waited in a comfortable area. Plenty of places to get a drink etc.
The boat was big with air conditioning and the ride to Gili T was fairly smooth. Bags were unloaded quickly.
I have absolutely no complaints about anything and would use them again. Many thanks

Took this boat from Serangan (Bali) to Nusa Penida and had a really positive experience. There are so many boat options to choose from and some of the reviews are down right scary. This boat, no issues!
We chose the pick up and drop off option they have and they were very prompt at pick up. The port at Serangan is quite nice, they have a little cafe for you to get some food and drinks, not a huge menu but enough options to have breakfast if you so choose (ommlette, bagel, croissant and sandwiches available.) And there is a bathroom here too.
I got a whatsapp text one or two nights before pick up giving me a copy of my ticket and my driver information, we were picked up and taken to the port. When you arrive to check in they give you a tag to put on your luggage and then the staff there take your luggage and load it to the boat for you. When we got onto the boat we were given a bottle of water and a mentos mint. The boat was not crowded and the AC worked. Ride was smooth.
When we got to Nusa Penida they had already taken our luggage off and confirmed with us that they had gotten all our luggage.
When we left Nusa Penida we checked in at 330pm and the boat was supposed to leave at 515pm. It actually left at 430pm which was fine for us, but just letting you know that they do sometimes leave early, so DO NOT BE LATE and always get there early.
The Nusa Penida port is not as nice as the Serangan one but still fine.
When we arrived back at Serangan, just walk back to the port as they will handle the luggage. Since we chose Blue water express transport back to our hotel they make announcements with your name and hotel and when you hear it, they point you to your driver and they load your luggage and away you go to your hotel. I found the process very organized!
There are lots of dogs at the port so if you are an animal lover like me who carries dog food around with you to feed the strays this is a good place to have some handy as there are so many dogs at the ports!

Difficult to know how to rate Bluewater because I have no experience with the other lines. Bluewater got us to and from Gili right on time. Also, I noted Bluewater has passengers meet at a central point and then delivers the luggage to the boat, which was more convenient than having to handle it on the pier under high temperatures. A taxi driver told us that all the lines were pretty much the same, so whether it is worth the additional cost, I cannot say. The accomodations on board were certainly not luxurious, and legroom was reminicent of some of the worst economy seats.

-The staff treated our luggage poorly. Throw it freely and Drag it on the rock road and damage the luggage wheel. It was out of shape.
-During the ride back to Bali, the car wasn't prepared properly, out of gas. We had to wait in the gas station for an extra 30 minutes.

Could you please send us details of your booking date and route to feedback@bluewater-express so that we may follow up with the driver. This review is strange as 1. Guests’ luggage never comes near any rocks 2. Our team handle baggage with due care and attention and 3. Petrol stations are abundant in Bali and refilling rarely takes more than 5 minutes.

Overall really happy with service and journey. The boats always left and arrived on time, compared to the other providers there are good safety procedures, staff who support the loading of the bags and the boat itself was more comfortable than some of the other providers. We fell asleep on the boat every time we travelled with them! I think those that complain about the seats haven’t travelled on the other boats around Bali. Perfect example of you get what you pay, worth paying more for a better experience!
Tips:
When offered sea sickness tablets take them or ask for them if they are not offered. They have plenty at each check in station. You should have them an hour before travelling as it’s too late if you take it once you start getting motion nausea. The recommendation is to take them even if you think you’re someone who doesn’t get motion sickness. They completely stop you from feeling sick on the journey and you can even tell on the boat the people who have taken them as they look chilled out and relaxed and can also tell who hasn’t!
Use the transfer service offered by blue water express. We traveled through many different ports during our traveling in Bali and the surrounding islands. Many of the ports/ harbours do not allow normal bluebird/grab taxis into, we were caught out with this on the occasions we didn’t use the BlueWater express transfer. The transfer itself made everything easier and was worth the money.

We had previously travelled with two other ferry companies — one from Padang Bai to Gili Air, and another from Gili Air to Bangsal. We were bracing ourselves for another hot, suffocating journey as we were travelling to Sarangan…. But what a difference!!! Bluewater Express was on-time, so reliable and helpful, provided you with water and mints and even some seasickness tablets (if you requested) and there was AC!!! I was so deeply happy with my trip with Bluewater Express. I Will only travel with them from now on.
Yes, the waves are rocky - but this is normal for open ocean on these fast boats. I felt very safe on the boat. And, unlike the other boat operators, we even got a safety talk before starting our voyage.
Thanks for a great trip!

The shuttle service was early and then pressured us to be ready to go. On the boat is awful, seats are so uncomfortable and hard to get in and out of the rows. The transfer from Bali to Gili Trawangan wasn't too bad, but the return transfer was absolutely horrendous. The aircon was not working, it was so hot and disgusting. They detoured a different way which ended up taking 4+ hours to get to Bali. No snacks either. Absolute rip off. Never again. We will fly to Lombok next time.

Please accept our apologies for the lack of air conditioning on your trip. There was a problem with the generator (which powers the air conditioning) and I am happy to report that the problem has been rectified and everything is cool again.
However, please note that we feel that the seats we provide are roomy enough (larger than industry standard), and that this issue is not something anyone else has flagged.
There was no change to schedule as you mistakenly allege: our routes are clearly laid out on the website. Our afternoon departure stops briefly at Penida on the way back to Serangan.
Thank you for your feedback. Once again, we apologise for any disappointment you
May have experienced while travelling with us.

Hi, what is the earliest ferry that leaves Gili Air for Padang Bai? I have a flight out of DPS at 4PM and wanted to see if I can leave Gili Air early morning on the same day

All the fast boats are leaving around lunchtime, it takes around 2 hours to reach Padang Bai, then from Padang Bai to Airport takes around 2 hours.
Your departure time is not feasible.
You could either check out one-day earlier or take a morning flight from Lombok International Airport.
Cheers,

Hi, Thanks for your question. Yes, we do offer various different discounts but these change between the different routes, dates and occupancy levels. The discounts are applied directly to the prices on the website so as you search for different rates you will see the full retail price and the discounted rate underneath.

Hoi!

Hi Hana, we recommend booking in advance. Because if you book on the same day, there is a possibility that our seats are full on that day, especially in high season.

Yes, the Gili Islands are open and we have been running again with tourists since 1st September. You can check the availability, prices and book direct including pickup and drop-off locations on our website.
Is it safe to use this company right now, with all the Big waves? Or should you not sail at all?

I travelled with them and to be honest they seem to be the best company. Safe, well organised, good English. I was really worried about the bad crossing, but it wasn't half as bad as people make out and I was a female travelling alone. I don't swim well, and am afraid of the sea so if I can do it, anyone can.
