Declared as wildlife sanctuary in 1949 and National park in 1994 for the population of 1-horned Indian rhinoceros. There are four watch towers which are located at various points to provide excellent view of wildlife. To explore the beauty of nature, Elephant and Jeep safari are available. Need to take permission for safari from Nature Interpretation Centre, Forest Dept, Lataguri.... More

Gorumara forest is great place to see Leopard in action. Leopard of Gorumara forest lives near tea garden for easy food. You will rarely see them roaming inside forest. I was traveling to Alipurduar from Siliguri. Near Chulsa I had to change my course to Gorumara forest due to road block by tribal activits. We were moving through the buffer... More

The Forest also form a part of the diversity of India. Located partly in Bangladesh and partly in the delta areas of West Bengal, the forests are a natural marvel. As the name suggests, the forest is full of mangrove trees which grow in sultry climate and saline water. The Sundari mangrove trees are unique in nature as they have... More

We went over to Lower Fagu Tea Estate. A wonderful place to visit. Situated at the foothills covered with Tea Plantation and old Trees. Meaning of Pin Drop Silence can be understood. Next we over to Lataguri. Stayed at an off beat Resort. Unique Green. Situated near Bison Crossing. They arranged for all the visit to the National Park. The... More

Went to this forest range with another couple. Nothing much to do here, except animal watching from a watch tower. The best part though is the ride on the back of a bullock cart through the jungle. If you are lucky then you may very well get to ride the bullocks through the middle of the jungle. OTherwise, you may... More

Anyone wanting to visit Gorumara may well be prepared not to sight any thing inside the core zone. If you want to have some chance of sighting anything take the Watchtower safari. In my whole drive through the core zone we saw only one pea hen. But was lucky in the watch tower safari to see three Rhinos and spotted... More

Gorumara Forest is a lager and less crowed forest. We have spent one of the best moments of our life here. There is a very greenery all around. You can spent hours with the nature. No crowd, only sound of Wind, Wild Animals and Birds. The scenic landscapes, magnificent forests, tall elephant grasses and rippling streams are added to the... More

Winter again played the spoilsport... Most animals were in their hideouts... Managed glimpses of elephants and bisons... A real treat were the peacocks in full bloom... The open jeep safari was enjoyable though... There is not much bathroom facilities there which gave us a bit of trouble...

Considering that I have done quite a few Forest Safari's, I wont recommend Gorumara Forest as a place to go. Why you ask, below are the reasons - 1. The ticketing system is a pain, you have to stand in line early morning to do your own booking. You have an option to go through your hotel team, but they... More

There are better nature parks with better animal and bird observations than this one. Despite interesting settings and multiple sitings of rhinos, deer, monkeys, wild elephants, boars etc, the distances required either great eyesight or binoculars. However, this is a beautiful area and the journey via tea plantations and fascinating villages/towns made the top worthwhile.
