We visited one of the most picturesque spots recently, starting our journey from the mall road. It took us about 35 minutes to reach from Library Chowk, but on the way back, we got caught in traffic, stretching the 5.5 km distance to around an hour. The viewpoint is located on the top floor of Laal Tibba, a restaurant that charges an entry fee of ₹50 per person. You can enjoy some stunning views scenes with the help of binoculars and even have a food while enjoying the sunset. We ordered sandwiches and hot chocolate, but, honestly, the taste didn’t worth the price.

Lal Tibba, the highest point in Landour, Mussoorie, offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the region. If you’re visiting Mussoorie, this scenic spot is a must-visit for its stunning vistas, peaceful atmosphere, and the unique experience it provides.
Stunning Views and Location
Lal Tibba offers a spectacular view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Kailash, and Trishul. On a clear day, the distant mountains seem to stretch endlessly into the sky, making it an ideal spot for photography and nature lovers. The tranquil surroundings make it the perfect place to sit back and absorb the beauty of the landscape.
Amenities and Experience
At the top of Lal Tibba, you'll find a small shopselling woolen goods, perfect for keeping warm or picking up souvenirs to remember your visit. There’s also a cozy restaurant that serves piping hot snacks, along with tea, coffee, and fresh juices—ideal for warming up during the chilly weather in Landour. The food is simple but comforting, making it a great stop for a quick break before heading back to explore more of Mussoorie.
A notable feature of Lal Tibba is the binocularavailable for visitors, allowing you to get a closer look at the distant snow-capped peaks. It’s a great way to enhance your experience and appreciate the stunning landscape from a more detailed perspective.
Final Thoughts
Lal Tibba Scenic Point offers a blend of natural beauty, local culture, and great amenities. Whether you’re there for the panoramic views, the cozy refreshments, or the woolen goods, it’s a place that captures the essence of Landour and Mussoorie. A visit to this serene viewpoint is highly recommended, especially for those who appreciate nature, local experiences, and a peaceful retreat. Don’t forget to bring your camera for some truly memorable shots!
Entry Fee is Rs 50 per person

Place is in Landor, nothing much to see if there is haze. For binocular view there is a charge which can claimed if you order some food. The binocular is situated on top of a restaurant. If there is haze then you cant view the peaks. Horse riding and shooting is available in the area at chargeable basis by local guys.

The views from here are mesmerizing, as Lal Tibba is the highest point in Mussoorie, second only to Gun Hill. Unlike Gun Hill, which requires a ride on the Ropeway, vehicles can access Lal Tibba directly. The road leading to this point passes through Landour, the historic part of Mussoorie, known for its narrow and congested lanes. When planning your tour, consider the route's potential for delays.
At Lal Tibba, there is one café. You can enjoy the breathtaking views even without entering the café, but if you're interested in exploring the surrounding areas, visiting the café is recommended. There is an entry fee of Rs. 50 per person, refundable with a snack purchase of Rs. 200 or more. The café's rooftop offers an equally stunning view, complete with a binocular for observing the Himalayan range. However, visibility depends on weather conditions, which can be unpredictable due to the altitude, often causing cloudy skies.
Additionally, a local photographer is available to take photos (Rs. 20 per photo), which is worthwhile if you have a good camera. It's suggested to visit the café for coffee or snacks when the weather is clear; otherwise, you can still enjoy the same view without entering the café. There's no time limit to how long you can spend at the café, allowing you to soak in the scenery at your own pace.

This place is old and kept as it was 100 years back. Entry fee is Rs 50 person and when you order something that amount gets deducted with each item. Food tastes good and there is always rush. A Japanese binocular was installed during British era and now that binocular is not of use. Probably to give the old era feel, this place was not revamped. But can visit while visiting Landour. Place gets congested with more people visiting and this place is very small compared to people visiting here

From Mall Road the distance of Lal Tibba is just 6-7 kilometres and the road is steep and u must have good control if u r taking your vehicle. The road is one way and u can face jam also on the road for hours also. Once u reach on the point u will find a restaurant permitted by the Uttarakhand Government which is having a Binocular on the top to give u the view of Mussorie from top. This is Lal Tibba. During my visit the weather was not clear as such there is no vision from Binocular. Overall my experience was fifty- fifty.

A scenic spot where on a clear day you can see the snow capped Himalayan range. We were not so fortunate. Non the less it is nice place to visit while on a day trip to Landour and have coffee or Thupka at one of the restaurants here. We visited Savoy Cafe which has great views from the top floor and had a chicken thupka while we enjoyed the view . Both were worth it.

Not worth it. It’s a dhaba which charges Rs50/- per person to get on to the roof to use telescope to view the scenery.. completely understandable. Otherwise one can’t manage the rush and filter the unwanted element. But behaviour is pathetic… if you are charging, behaviour could have been better.. the telescope lens is dirty and grainy .. not clear view… completely avoidable..

Lal Tibba Cafe with a scenic terrace is a more apt description. The only view u get is from the cafe terrace which is a small space jam packed with tourists trying to get a decent photo. Charging 50 rupees just to access this very overcrowded and small terrace is a bit much

Lal Tibba Binocular Restaurant is worthless. He charges you 50/- per head for entry to the restaurant, which he claims as the cover charge. He then denies to adjust it against the total bill, he wants you to order 10 items if you are 10 people. Apparently he doesn't know how cover charge works.
Worst Thing: The binocular is equally worthless, you can't see anything.
Absolute waste of money. Please prefer the Savoy, it's exactly opposite this pathetic place. You can see the Himalayan View and even enjoy good food.

Is there snowfall in mussoorie and dhanaulti in January 2023
Written 16 January 2023
Both the places get snowfall anytime in January. It depends on weather conditions. As per prevailing cold climate and all hill stations already got snow , chances are high of snowfall at Mussorie & Dhanaulti. Keep ready your bags & woollens.

Hi, Me and my friends are planning to go to Uttarakhand around First week of January. Places we are planning to visit are Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Naninital, Jim corbett. Planning for 7 days trip.
#1 Any other must visit places in Uttarakhand?
#2 In which of these places, we can experience snowfall?
#3 Is January First week right time to experience snow and chill weather?
Written 30 October 2021
1. Please include Landour Cantt in your itinerary. A meal at Emily's is highly recommended
2. You are likely to experience snowfall in Mussoorie in the 1st week of Jan....hopefully.
3. Yes, 1st week of Jan will be ideal to experience chill and cold weather.
4. A 7 day trip may be just about fine to see these places. Don't add any other place unless you plan to increase your stay.

Any suggestions about where to travel in 24hours from 5:00pm to next day 4:00pm in Mussoorie?
Written 29 November 2018
My suggestion as a local who spent his childhood in Musssoorie :
1. First day evening , take a walk on the Mall Road . Cover two ends -- Gandhi Chowk ( also known as the Library ) to Picture Palace . The distance is about 3 kms. You would get a feel of this Hill Station . There are many good restaurants on Picture Palace end serving Veg and Non veg varieties . Make your choice.
2. Second day morning , go for an early walk to the Lal Tibba . If it is not cloudy , you can have a panaromic view of the snow capped Himalayan Ranges. Have breakfast at the Char Dukaan . You would relish it forever.
3. If you have energy, there are options for rest of the day. You can either go to the Kempty Falls but if would be quick trip or the Municipal Garden for a lazy afternoon.
I wish you a nice time at Mussoorie !
