The falls is situated around 13 km from the city. The place where we had been dropped by our cab, it was in the midst of a marketplace, the entry to the fall is through such marketplace only. We used rope ways @ Rs. 150 per pax. The waterfall cascades down from the mountains and lands into to the pool below. There are pools at different levels, the drop point of the ropeway is situated nearer to the lowest pool level, the place was almost empty. We climbed through slippery stairs to next higher pool level, where the waterfall was touching the pool. The place was overcrowded despite bad weather, several tourists were bathing in groups in the pool, almost like a water park scene. There were small snacks shops, locker and change rooms, could not get a cup of tea through ordered due to overcrowd. The entire place including stairs, were slippery and dirty, garbage like plastics bottles, used tea cups etc., were lying there. Overall, an average experience for us.Visited June 2022Written 27 February 2023
- GauravJ84Pune, India66 contributionsA crowded picnic spot, nothing specialNot sure why it is has so much hype. A regular picnic spot where you find a pond, a waterfall, few places to eat Maggie and other snack item. Too much crowd hence someone has to be very early to place to beat traffic. Would need to walk a bit to reach the waterfall so pls be prepare. Get your swim costume with otherwise otherwise it was available on rent on decent price. Only hygiene could be a problem.Visited May 2022Travelled with familyWritten 13 April 2023
- Trip095974070061 contributionKempty Falls is not for nature loversKempty falls is not located in Mussoorie. It is located 13 kms away from Mussoorie at the Tehri Gerhwal district. Upon reaching parking charges are required to park any kind of vehicle (rates may vary depending on vehicles/season), however no entry fees are needed. After parking one may descend a flight of stairs to reach the bottom of the fall. The steps from the top to bottom and left and right are surrounded by small shops. Even the waterfall is surrounded by the shops where you may choose to take a dip or swim. Tourists are facilitated with lockers for their clothes and belongings. Kempty falls is always crowded. If you like peace and nature this place is definitely not for you. The sight is more of people taking bath, loud noises and packed shops rather than the waterfall and it's therapeutic sound. I definitely do not recommend this place to nature lovers. The view of the falls is best enjoyed from afar away.Visited March 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 14 April 2023
- SudhakarDoha, Qatar27 contributionsNice and rejuvenatingWe were on a holiday trip to Mussoorie, popularly known as the queen of hills in India. Kempty falls is at a distance of about 12 kms from Gandhi Chowk, Mall Road.Nice place for taking a dip in the pools of the waterfalls. Ideal to visit in Summer months. Several shops and kiosks offer change rooms and refreshments nearby.Needs renovation and provide steps with safe hand rails for the tourists.Visited May 2023Written 29 May 2023
- SridharEden Prairie, Minnesota376 contributionsPretty falls! The falls itself is very pretty and the water appeared white and clear(just like you might have seen in some pictures). You can either walk or take a cable car ride to see the waterfall. You will see hundreds of people getting into the water and having fun. There are a few lookouts to to enjoy the waterfall and take pictures. Kempty Falls was only 5 kilometers from our hotel JW Marriott but I guess is a good 45-60mins. drive in a car from Mussoorie(depending on the traffic). Stop littering and save this wonderful spot for others to enjoy as well. The city has a task cut out for them to take action and tidy up this place which I believe is one of the attraction in Mussoorie!Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 July 2023
- satwantpoolSingapore, Singapore318 contributionsNice Wareefall but FiltyThe waterfall is beautiful & very cooling on a warm day. But the cleanliness is very bad. Litter is found everywhere. The guys running the place do not bother to maintain it and they themselves contribute to the litter. Pampers can be found in the pool. Sadly some even bathe and take sips from the water. The Himdola (Kempty Fall Ropeways) seems risky, but is actually safe.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 October 2023

I cant even say how shell-shocked I am! I visited Kempty Falls after 30 years. I remembered it as a lush green, high Falls that comes down in 3 stages, surrounded by lush green forests. An absolute delight for a nature lover. They have completely, utterly, infuriatingly destroyed everything, EVERYTHING, including the natural pool at the bottom itself. All you see are ugly shops and human greed for money. Nothing else. Its a disaster! Don't waste time going there if you are a nature lover. Gave it a 1/5 stars, because there's no option of 0.
There are 298 steps to go down to the pool, or to climb up to the road, btw. We were so disappointed, we actually counted in our way up, to keep the mind busy. That's like climbing up 15 floors by the stairs. Waste your energy at your own peril. 🙂

Kempty Falls has a ropeway / cable car as well as steps to go to the place. Ropeway was nice 3-4 minute affair and water in October was quite good. IT was a bit chilly and not many ventured in water. The overall experience was quite decent.

Place is too commercialized, overcrowded, dirty. Not at all worth visiting during summer weekends for people who do not like crowded places

One has to climb down, through stairs or cablel car, from oad level to see the falls. Though there are shops / restaurant at the entry / road level, but don't recall seen any provision for luggage keeping. May be you have to keep the luggae at some of these shops, but not sure about safety and security of your belongings.

From Dehradun..booking a 4 seater..by covering kempty falls..going to mall road..MUSSOORIE...what will be one way car fare?
Jaish V
Raipur, India4 contributions
I believed it should be between 1200 to 1500 either for hatchback or sedan as distance from Dehradun is not more so offcourse they have min Kms limits whether to use or not (150 to 200)..more to that they charge extra per km wise. If u r a good negotiator I guess one way charges as per your itinerary 1100 is enough. 😀
