Mathura - Vrindavan diary!
So I had a day tour to Mathura, Vrindavan and visited #Krishna janamsthan temple and bankey bikari temple respectively.
I felt so so happy when the world was chanting jai krishna, jai vasudeva there...
I had this feeling - humare toh naam mein hi vasudeva hai..
Basically another destination done..
But below are the points or rather feelings I came back with ☹️
POINT NO 1
We followed google maps and we travelled all the way from mathura city where police stopped us to park our car somehwere and walk remaining few kms or take rikshaw.. on being asked how far is temple and how much we will have to walk ( we were in dilemma as shud we park here or reroute our map and take diff route) , the reply was - dimag na khaa, park kar warna wapis jao apne sehar.. with danda pointing towards us..
🙃🙃🙃
POINT NO 2
As we were entering temple, there are lot of guides (like any other touristy spot) to show the temple inside out..
As it is mandatory to wear mask in temple, guide took one mask from shop outside (shop must be of his friend I believe) , and he shouted after wearing that mask - ABHI BAHAR AAKR WAPIS KARTA HU... ( he was going to return that mask to the shopkeeper and that mask was going to be on sale again 😭😭😭😭😭😭)
POINT NO 3
As I was in city, NONE wears mask like NOONEEEEE... on the contrary, people stare at you if you are wearing mask 🙃🙃🙂
POINT NO 4
Temple security guards didnt allow me to carry my sanitiser inside.. ( that too during covid days)
So, I gave my sanitiser to police officials and they were very surprised to see my sanistiser bottle .. haha.. like it was some new object they saw for very first time 😂😂
When I came back to pick my bottle. I immediately washed my hands with my sanitiser, the police officials were so amused and laughing at me on seeing this
🤣🤣🤣
POINT NO 5
Since , I came back from Kerala after self driving in cities of kerala, so that unknowingly comparison was going throughout.. (cant help it 🥺)
There I saw everyone wearing a mask no matter what.. rich poor..
But here in mathura vrindavan 😒😒😒
And this I even witnessed in cities Lucknow, kanpur, Prayagraj last month.. I believe people here got vaccinated even before vaccine was developed.. 🤔
Bad smell, bad roads are open secrets that we all know waise bhi..
Like this is the place where Lord Krishna was born.. and such poor developments.. Shame!
But yea the whole feeling when you are inside temple and worship is priceless .. 😍

As I experienced with my 15 year old disabled son at Mathura Temple on 15 August 2019:
1. Vehicles are stopped approximately 200 m away from the Temple entrance. Request to allow the vehicle till the entrance is turned-down by the police even after seeing the disabled person.
2. Personal Wheelchairs are not allowed.
3. Wheelchairs are provided by the Temple administration through the Cloak room which is located at the Temple entrance and access to the cloak room is not wheelchair friendly.
4. The wheelchair provided are of adult size, not the Junior one.
5. Even with Wheelchair, one has to encounter steps at a couple locations to have Dharshan of “Krishna Janmasthan – (the cave)”. I remember, at least at two locations, my husband had to take our son on his shoulder and I had to lift the wheelchair to negotiate the steps.
6. Besides the above, even the new temple (within the same complex), is not completely wheelchair accessible though it has an elevator! To reach the elevator, both at the ground level and at the top, one has to negotiate steps. We were forced to drop the idea of having Dharshan at the New Temple.
My request & suggestion:
1. Simply providing Wheelchair does not make the place accessible to a disabled person with locomotor disability. The accessibility should be designed and implemented with necessary safety arrangement. The gradient in the ramp should be safe and comfortable to manoeuvre wheelchairs.
2. Junior wheelchairs are not provided by the temple. Hence, devotees may be permitted to use their personal wheelchairs after security check.
3. In the absence of such safe & feasible facilities, I advise persons with locomotor disability to pray to God the Almighty from wherever they are instead going all the way to Mathura and face the pain & embarrassment.

Big temple with multiple gates. Security check is time taking and they do not use intelligence but very strict with rules without knowing the purpose of the rules. Cloak room for keeping your mobile, camera etc is another pain. But inside the temple aarthi and worships are peaceful and disciplined.

Srikrishna janambhoomi temple complex is spread in a large area and very sensitive place. The complex is under eye of UP police and administration.Sri krishnajanambhoomi temple shares common wall with jumma masjid which has made the complex sensitive regarding hindu muslim conflict.

There are plenty of paid parking places around the Janmabhoomi complex. You may take a guide once you reach the mandir. They are very disciplined and helpful and generally charge between Rs 250-300. You may bargain to reduce Rs 50/-. They will get your car parked closer to the mandir and brief you quite well. You should try and visit Gokul. I was more impressed with my visit to Gokul than the Mandir which is just brick and concrete structure. At Gokul one feels that he is back in Lord Krishna's childhood village.
