Dasaswamedh Ghat is the most famous Ghat in Varanasi because of the Aartis which take place in the morning and evening. We attended the evening Aarti. It was absolutely mesmerising. The ghat itself is pretty clean, taking the other Indian religious places in consideration. We also went for boating in the afternoon and toured around 40-42ghats. Because the weather was... More

We went by a private motor boat and ended up paying 200 rupees per head. It takes about 20 minutes one way.

The Aarti Ceremony is a religious one, important to Hindus. Another reviewer harkened this to a Bollywood attraction, and if you view it that way, you'll miss the significance of this ancient ceremony. This particular Aarti can be viewed from a boat on the Ganges which offers a different perspective than other ceremonies we attended. Vendors hop from boat to... More

We had hired a boat to see all the ghats & also the evening ganga arti. Its a spellbinding and mesmerizing experience when the air is filled with holy chants, sounds of ringing bells & fragrance from the holy incense. Truely a must visit during the evening time.

They charges 150 -200 per person if share with other persons but if don't share with others then the boat charges are 1200-1500 if it is handle by human... More

Varanasi is a spiritual city of Lord Shiva. Lot of temples and religion are creating amazing view of river Ganga. They love to worshiping of river Ganga.

the sanitary conditions have a large scope of improvement still, though it is improved since last year. Lot of religious rituals are conducted here, rendering large crowds. Lack of proper washroom facility especially for women is more evident here.

This is probably the most popular Ghat. Ganga Aarti, Ganga Snan(bath), Puja and boating can be done at ease. There are reasonable tea coffee stalls and souvenir stalls.

Really interesting - unfortunately 90% of the people there will be tourists, including us of course - but it's a must see place. I think you'll get the most pleasure out of here by telling people when you get home. Have your camera handy.
