This temple is located near Kedar Ghat and is a branch of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. The lord is called Kanchi Kamkotishwara. There are beautiful shrines of Shiva, Ambal, Ganapati, Subramanya and Ayyappan. I was pleasantly surprised to see Lord Ayyappa with both of his wives here. There is also a replica of Shiva in the Pallikondeshwara form here, a form he took after consuming Halahala, similar to Mahavishnu in the Shayana Kolam.

I asked my guide why temples in Varanasi have simple and delicate motiffs for their exterior facades while those in Southern India has gods and goddesses are constructed on top of each other. He explained that different regions of India have different styles of temples exteriors.

We stopped at this temple to show that Varanasi accepts different religions such as Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and its subsets. Briefly took some pictures here.

Walking in the alleys surrounding the southernmost ghats of Varanasi, I came across almost casually in a "gopura", like those that dot southern India.
I didn't enter the enclosure, but I promised myself to investigate the reasons for this unusual architectural presence in Uttar Pradesh.
I have thus ascertained that the gopura, and therefore the temple, are part of building called "Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham". That is, a Hindu monastery that is branch of the main one that rises in Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu). dedicated to the goddess Kamakoti (another name of Durga, consort of Shiva).
This one in Varanasi is a minor branch of what we - perhaps improperly - can call a monastic order. An order which probably could not miss in a holy city like Varanasi.
The visit to this institution will therefore be an opportunity for the traveler to learn about new aspects of the Hindu religion.

Good Hindu temple to visit at Varanasi. One can perform pooja there which has several idols.
On special occasions when Ganga Snaan is performed by pilgrims, TriDevi Darshan is arranged wherein the devotees can have darshan of the deities of Sri Kanchi Kamakshi, Sri Madurai Meenakshi and Sri Kasi Visalakshi at the Matam.
