- John S2 contributionsBeautiful ArtworkWhen we booked our tour to the Taj Mahal, we didn’t know it also included a visit to Sanskrit’s Imperial Gems. It was worth the couple of hours we spent at the store! The embroidery pieces are so spectacular that we couldn’t go back home without buying one, it was shipped to the US and was received in perfect condition. Our overall experience with the staff there was very pleasant and professional.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 November 2023

Very hard to make a choice. My item was shipped promptly and arrived within 3 days with DHL. Definitely recommend visiting this place when you’re visiting Agra.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 12 January 2024
- BDGDesignTravelBoston, Massachusetts15 contributionsStunning Embroidery & Jewelry in Agra, IndiaMy family had the pleasure of visiting the multilevel art and jewelry galleries at Sanskriti's Imperial Gems during the recent holiday season. Each floor was filled with amazing items that exhibited an extremely high level of craft and design. We loved the intricate gold and silver hand embroidery artwork and the jewelry pieces. We purchased a stunning embroidered art piece that was shipped for free to our home in the USA. The Owner of the gallery texted me to let me know that he found some scratches on the frame I saw on our artwork. He then suggested that they reframe the piece at no charge. We received the artwork recently. It was beautifully packaged and arrived in perfect condition with an even better frame, ready to hang in our home. We're very happy with the entire experience!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 January 2024
- Erika N5 contributionsExceptional Service and Commitment from Mr. Shakti KalraI visited the store in Agra after a trip to the Taj Mahal and bought the ring with the stone from the photo (attached). Two days later, after arriving home in Amsterdam, the stone fell out of the ring. I contacted the store and the owner, Mr. Shakti Kalra, was very supportive. He said we would find a way to fix it and that I would receive the ring repaired. We found a way to send the ring back to India, and throughout the process, I received quick responses from him, keeping me informed about the ring's status. After it was fixed, he organized the shipment of the ring to my home, and I received it perfectly at my address. I am very satisfied with the service, commitment, and seriousness he showed towards me.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 July 2024

I would highly recommend to visit this store to learn a bit of this ancient craft of Agra . PVisited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 August 2024
- Kiran K2 contributionsA Must See Place! We went by the shop after our tour of the Taj Mahal and we are so happy we did. The artistry and workmanship is stellar and the staff was wonderful to work with. We bought two pieces of the embroidery work that has precious stones and they packed and shipped it to us meticulously. No issues at all receiving it and we have made it a center piece to our decor. We have since ordered another piece as a gift and that arrived with no issues either, don’t forget to stop by, you will be happy you did.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 August 2024

Our Taj Mahal tour guide brought us to this place on the pretense of seeing how the tapestries are made in Agra. This morphed into an uncomfortable hard sell situation for over priced tapestries and jewelry. It felt smarmy. Not classy at all. Not cool……. You can do better guys to represent your beautiful country.

This was a wonderful experience. We didn’t understand where we were going, but trusted our guide, Sanjay, and are glad we did! We were told we were going to see how “carpets” were made, but learned they are really what Westerners would call “wall hangings” or tapestries. The Zardozi were beautiful and intricate — a revelation! We appreciated being shown how they are made. The gallery has one stunning masterwork after another by Shams. Upstairs, we had the opportunity to see smaller works, which were easily put in our suitcase. I enjoyed the small Zardozi decorated boxes, brought home as gifts. Completely against my expectations, I ended up also purchasing a beautiful star ruby ring and a set of earrings. The star in the ring and one of the earrings is quite clear, and the color in all is a beautiful deep blood-red. The gold work is lovely. While there were more elaborate designs, I chose something simple, to showcase the stones. We did not dicker on price, as prices were quite fair, from the outset. We were delighted with our experience, including our purchases: it was a great way to connect with and remember Agra.

We purchased an embroidered piece of carpet for decorating one of our walls in the living room. It’s a marvelous piece with studded gems and completely embroidered by hand. It took just a couple of days to receive it in the United States after shipping from Agra. Our living room wall stands out with this piece hung in it. The artisans and salesmen at Sanskriti are highly knowledgeable in the art of handwoven carpet making, embroidery and gemology. They are also experts in international packing and shipping. We will definitely visit this emporium on our next trip.

While visiting Agra I went to Sanskriti's Imperial Gems and was delighted by the extraordinary embroidery. I initiated the visit as my tour of the Taj Mahal and surrounding area brought up the discussion of the textiles that once embellished this world famous site. There are direct families that continue to practice the arts in textile form and also the exquisite marble pieces that make this an iconic venue. I did purchase an embroidery piece which arrived in perfect condition. Studded with gems, handcrafted and acknowledged world over for their work, I am reminded not only of my visit to Agra but of the kindness and pride of the people who work so hard and with such artistry to showcase the arts of India both past and present.

Stopping here was part of the tour. I was not planning on buying anything initially but I ended up purchasing 2 tapestries. It took forever for me to choose and every one was kind and helpful during my decision making process. The tapestries arrived safely and framed nicely when expected. Thanks!

I purchased a stunning ring which, following the expansion operation, when I got home the stone fell off. I contacted them and the service I received is so wonderful and amazing that words cannot describe how wonderful they are. Of course they made me a beautiful new ring with a special design just for my taste, sent it by international mail. Such service deserves a special mention. I highly recommend their wonderful and special jewelry. Visit the store, a particularly nice surprise awaits you.
