This was a wonderful experience. We didn’t understand where we were going, but trusted our guide, Sanjay, and are glad we did! We were told we were going to see how “carpets” were made, but learned they are really what Westerners would call “wall hangings” or tapestries. The Zardozi were beautiful and intricate — a revelation! We appreciated being shown how they are made. The gallery has one stunning masterwork after another by Shams. Upstairs, we had the opportunity to see smaller works, which were easily put in our suitcase. I enjoyed the small Zardozi decorated boxes, brought home as gifts. Completely against my expectations, I ended up also purchasing a beautiful star ruby ring and a set of earrings. The star in the ring and one of the earrings is quite clear, and the color in all is a beautiful deep blood-red. The gold work is lovely. While there were more elaborate designs, I chose something simple, to showcase the stones. We did not dicker on price, as prices were quite fair, from the outset. We were delighted with our experience, including our purchases: it was a great way to connect with and remember Agra.

We bought a Zardosi frame from the incredible India series from Sanskriti Imperial gems. I was very happy with my purchase with them. My zardosi tapestry had to be framed and shipped to USA and they did it as promised. The only problem that I had was the frame reflects light a lot.. It cannot be denied that Sanskriti imperial gems may have tie ups with travel guides who take you to their store and the prices seem to be high no matter what the people who work there say. Having said that, would you rather pay a little more to go to a store that is reliable, ships your purchase on time and is responsive to your messages once you pay or would you risk to pay for a piece of art and wait for your luck to play out, that’s a decision you need to take?

It was a great experience at Sanskriti Imperial Gems. They showed us the place and provided a detailed explanation of the jewels, gems, and other high quality artifacts. Rahul interpreted the astrology chart and gave us a very precise scientific explanation of traditional concepts and practices. Shakti went out of his way to explain to us the myriad aspects of gems and jewels. We bought a star ruby and some bracelets from them. These are high quality! An authentic experience!

I purchased a beautiful emerald ring in May from a Sanskriti Imperial Gem shop in a highly rated hotel in Agra. About 5 months later I lost one of the emeralds! I was heartbroken and contacted the company via email. Shakti from Imperial gems was so kind. He had me send the ring back to India, to a friend in Jaipur and he would arrange to pick up the ring. In the meantime he had a new ring made! Then when my ring finally got through customs in the USA, it got hung up in India customs and the import tax they charged to pick up the ring was financially not worth it. So Shakti sent me the new ring anyway at no extra charge to me!!! I was humbled and thankful and all I can say is these folks stand behind their quality and customer service. And I still love the ring, I think it is even more beautiful than the first one!

The sellers are really patient and the shop has a beautiful selection of all your Indian jewelry needs. Was able to get my anklet customized on the spot but couldn't leave without also getting my eyes caught in this beautifully embroidered purse they sell in along with the jewelry downstairs. Don't get caught or you'll leave having bought everything.

We were taken to Sanskriti Imperial Gems by our tour guide. As seasoned travelers, we accept these side trips as part of the experience. We didn't have any expectations when we visited Sanskriti's, but we thoroughly enjoyed browsing through their inventory. Their staff were very polite and helpful. We purchased one of their jeweled carpet tapestries, which we simply loved. It was shipped immediately and very well packaged. Their follow-up communications were outstanding. We'd gladly do business with them again.

We visited the store while on a one month trip in India. Our guide pointed it out. We looked around and immediately fell in love with a framed embroidery piece they had on the wall. This was not because of pushing but because we accidentally saw the piece hanging on the wall in a corner. The price was quite high but I guess appropriate. We had it shipped to our home in California. They promised to have the work signed by the artist, have it packaged and mailed to us. This was one of the most amazing packing jobs I have ever seen, I think a truck could have driven over it without causing damage. They provided tracking info and the piece arrived undamaged....including the promised signature.
If you look for something unusual I can thoroughly recommend this store. It is a bit pricey but worth it!

I had the good fortune to travel to India in February of this year and much like the other postings on this site, we were taken to this shop following our visit to the Taj Mahal by our tour guide. The craftsmanship is exquisite. I was worried about my framed rug arriving back in the USA, but within a couple of weeks it arrived securely without any damage at all. It was a complete act of faith making that type of expensive purchase and hoping that it arrives. I am so glad I did. The piece is beautiful and Shakti remained in close contact via email throughout the process and even followed up numerous times after the sale to make sure I was pleased!
