- stantp1916Farakka, India1,247 contributionsVery large, clean and well maintainedThe fort is located at a major crossing just like the Red Fort in New Delhi and is therefore extremely congested. There was a long queue in the ticket counter, which was obvious too as the entire Taj Mahal crowd was queuing up at Agra fort since the later was closed. I finally entered the fort. It’s a nice and large fort, very well maintained ans clean too. Lots and lots of foreign tourists everywhere. The most spectacular part was the small windows carved out on the east wall from where shah jahan used to see the Taj Mahal. Man !! It looked spectacular from here. Particularly it was sunset time and the domes were shining white in the sun. There is significant walking inside the fort so a comfy pair of shoes is suggested.Visited January 2020Travelled soloWritten 12 February 2020
- IWNoordergraafGroningen, The Netherlands494 contributionsThanks to my guide Ahmad a swift entry and what a large and impressive fortress and palace! After the Taj Mahal, the Agra Red Fort is the second big attraction in this dusty city. My driver Sharma arranged a local guide for me, who also led me through the Taj. Also thanks to Israr Ahmad who knows many details that would not have been noticed, it was a worthy visit. The fort is also a palace of the Mogul emperors who have left many wonderful buildings in north India. The system is similar to buildings in Andalusia in Spain, palaces inside fortresses - think of Alhambra but in many other cities as well (Alcazares, it can not be a coincidence that all of these building were built under Muslim rule). This fort is very large and you can visit part of it since the Indian Army uses the other part. The accessible area is by far large enough to spent two hours here and get a deep impresssion of how the royals lived in the 17th century. Just look at the pictures. Once you are in Agra, make sure you do not confine yourself to seeing the Taj Mahal only!Visited December 2019Written 10 February 2020
- ruthann19595 contributionsWorth visitingHIghly recommend you see this fort before you see the Taj Mahal. Definitely have a guide--either one you get at the fort or one you pay ahead of time. If you arrange for one earlier, then they are able to assist with getting your tickets and showing you where you need to be to get the best pictures. There are many, many great stories about this fort and if you take your time you will really begin to understand a little of the story that is woven into this location. Not set up for wheelchairs very well as it is an ancient location and the ground is very uneven. Outside the gates there are many, many street vendors who will follow you down the street trying to sell you trinkets. Decide ahead of time if you want to purchase anything (some stuff is pretty cool!!) but be prepared to discuss the price!! A guide will help you with getting good pictures and there are many, many spots to do that. Take your time. Don't rush.Visited January 2020Written 19 January 2020

An amazing complex to visit with such fascinating history and stories! We recommend always having a good guide to negotiate and move you around the most important parts of any ‘sight / site’ visit! Our guide @sunnyur_travelpartner #sunnyur_travelpartner has been fantastic for all our tours, also including: The Taj Mahal and the Baby Taj!

Huge and magnificent. We went to Taj Mahal first and felt a certain sense of emptiness on leaving and never being able to see it again, so you can imagine how delighted we were to come here and have a real treat and see it again. This place is steeped in romance and beauty. (There are toilets here and if you book Taj Mahal online I think you can book this at the same time. I'd recommend as I believe it's cheaper)

Wonderful architecture and history of itself - though many will also love the fact that it offers fabulous picture opp’s of the Taj Mahal in the distance. Beautiful to wander through - very hot in summer. Good accessibility though. So much is wondrous in India and this is another example, though if I had to rank Forts, I’d put the Amber Fort first…

I'd like to buy online tickets for some monuments in Agra and Sikkandra- Red Fort, Akbar's Tomb, Fahtepur Sikri, Itmad Ud Daulah.... It is obligatory to choose forenoon or afternoon hours.
I have no idea if I arrive forenoon or later- group is big and it is hard to control the time.
What if I book forenoon ticket and arrive later -do I need to buy another ticket? Or what if I arrive before 12 and will have afternoon ticket? Should I wait untill my turn?

How much is a tuk tuk or rick shaw ride from the Taj Mahal to Agra Fort? What did you negotiate? How long did it take to get between these two places?

Our Tuk Tuk ride was from our car to and from the Taj Mahal. The cost was Rs100 each direction.

I've heard you can't take a bag - is this true? When I've been to places like this before I usually take a small back pack (with water, umberella, phone etc and also to put my shoes in for when I have to take them off to enter certain areas) - and, if this is the case, will they charge to watch my shoes (this happened in Sri-Lanka - where, also, I heard that people's shoes "disappeared" that's why i like to just pop mine in my bag)

It depends on the level of knowledge and language. We had pre-booked a very knowledgeable one who did the entire tour in English for INR500. There were others there who were willing to do the tour for less, especially as it got later in the day.

How can I book tickets for light and show happen in the night at Red Fort
agrharsh
New Delhi, India161 contributions
There are two shows - Hindi & English, starting around 6:30PM depending on sunset time. The tickets are priced at Rs.70 for Indian & 200 for foreigners and are available at the counter outside the fort.
However, I didn’t find the show worth - though the narration is good, but the light show isn’t impressive. Moreover, the narrative is difficult to hear due to poor speakers.
It’s something you won’t regret skipping.

Non saprei dire a che ora apre l'Agra Fort. Io sono stata verso le ore 15 con una guida locale a inizio febbraio. Parte del forte è chiusa perché è zona militare.
