A little expensive but very good quality. It was interesting to learn the process by which the Taj Mahal and all J.K.'s products were made. I bought 3 items from them (2 chess boards + pieces and a picture frame), which they shipped to me for free. One arrived broken (the frame), and they crafted a new one and sent it to me. The pieces are unique and sure to last for years, if not a lifetime. Other shops that sold similar items (marble inlaid with semi-precious stones) were clearly not as high quality as those in this shop.

We were taken here by our tour guide and loved the demonstration. Everything they make and sell is just exquisite. We had no compulsion to buy anything, however we did end up buying a table. We had requested that table be shipped to the US after a certain date and they obliged. However the base of the table when delivered was not what we had ordered. The dimensions and color was off. Initially, I was skeptical of any timely resolution. However, I was able to work with Mr Arif Khan, and he redesigned the table per our specifications. He sent pictures of the new table for our approval before it was shipped. Fortunately, we got the new redesigned table in less than two weeks. Overall we were very pleased with the customer service. Thank you, JK Cottage and Mr. Arif Khan.

We first visited JK Cottage Industries in 2007, on our first (of many) Rajasthan Tours, and were hugely impressed with the quality of the workmanship. This is exceptional work, and painstakingly executed, as you will see. As the name of the shop indicates, it takes work from tried and trusted craftsmen in the surrounding area, and as such provides a livelyhood for many families and keeps alive an amazing art.
According to the very hospitable and kind owner, Atif, their craftsmen are involved in the renovation work of the Taj Mahal, so you can imagine the standard of the work.
We went berserk and bought an amazing green marble coffee table, inlaid with mother-of-pearl and abalone, and 4 years later, on another trip including Agra, we simply 'had to' get a complementing table -top for the same room. Both pieces arrived in pristine condition, thanks to excellent packaging and transport organisation, and they truly are major works of art in our home.
The shop caters to all tastes and pockets, (our inlay is quite a modern style, but there is plenty of the more colourful traditional work, with blues, reds and oranges on white marble). Elephants (all sizes, photo-frames (I was bought one as a special Birthday gift - it's SO beautiful), some wonderful boxes, and of course, every size and style of table, from coasters and cheese-boards, to our full-size examples (see photos).
JK Cottages is a great place to visit all round - hospitable, interesting (they show you the carving process), and great merchandise. Having seen an awful lot of marble inlay shops, I am sure that you could not find a better outlet, than this one., and the owner is generous (he gave my Mum a beautiful box, and let my friend choose from many lovely elephants - good salesmanship, but also much appreciated!).

It is a very nice shop, nice atmosphere and very good for tourists who are interested in the way things are made since they give you a little demo. So after looking at their smaller Taj Mahals, my girlfriend and I decided to get two and some elephants. To start off, it's overpriced (im half Indian), then he started packing the Taj Mahal and one of the marble pillars on the side cracked and broke off... he didnt seem to care and packed it anyway. I couldnt believe my eyes and told him to give me a new one... I mean, how can you be so shameless? So then all was good and we went to look at some elfants which we also got 2 of. When we arrived at home and eagerly unpacked our Taj Mahals, which were in as he called them, unbreakbale boxes, i found my Pillar to be cracked and broken off again. Then hours later my girlfriend unpacked hers and it was also brocken. To conclude, in the time we were looking at the elefants they probably switched the Taj Mahals and sold us broken pieces. We superglued them but it is just an unethical thing to do. Business lies on trust and you can not trust them, thats for sure!

We were guests at the Oberoi and they recommended a marble inlay company called oswals (they also have a shop in the Oberoi hotel).I picked out two small table tops and they wanted about $800 each for them.I just looked at the conman (sorry salesman) and walked out. I asked the driver if he Knew a reliable honest marble company and he recommended IK cottage industries, we drove in there and the men were working on marble pieces as we arrived, I found two pieces I liked asked for a no nonsense price and he quoted me $790 for the two small table tops,I couldnt be bothered haggling because he had beaten the opposition by 50%, they packaged them on the spot and allowed me to take them away and they came to the hotel at 7pm and I paid by credit card.I promised to do this review because he was a no nonsense guy that gave a good price up front.I also realise that the driver would have received a commission and I am happy with that.

I was taken here at the end of a very long and hot day, sightseeing in Agra. I was the only customer and it was getting near dusk. The explanation and workmanship of marble inlay was fun and genial. The salesmanship, though, was full on and I found myself too exhausted by the day to haggle. As a result, I have an exquisite piece of marble work (one of the octagons that is about the size of a large dinner plate, with dense and diverse inlay and the wooden table legs for Rs 22,000. I got the impression that I had paid over the odds by the big smiles as I left and the speed with which those smiles disappeared when they saw me looking! It's very hard to know the right price and my guide had left me all alone to work it out. Without tiredness I would have probably offered about two-thirds of the price I paid, but you live and learn!

The story of the Taj Mahal's 20,000 people working for 22 years is a powerful one, and to see the same process used in 2013 using the same kind of marble was quite fascinating. The welcome I received, the tour of the process and the amazing designs of table tops was lovely. I liked it so much, I bought a table top!

Their products are beatiful... Shipping was fantastic and quick. Table was packed extremely well. Ordered a White Marble Pedestool (was perfect) - ordered a black marble top with white marble inlay ( but top arrived with mother of pearl inlay) - via many emails - they keep telling me that white = pearl. My invoice said white boarder (no where does it say it say pearl) - frustrated!

We had a good experience of visiting J.K Cottage Industries. Firstly the inlaid work was of a high quality. With this sort of work there are different levels of intricacy in the design and pricing varies accordingly. The people here seem very genuine and whilst they are of course selling a product they are not too pushy and are incredibly helpful.Whilst we did not need to ship the inlaid box we bought they do ship larger pieces such as table tops and they have references and e mails from clients who have done so. We are thinking through the possible purchase of an inlaid table top as they a wide range of lovely designs and their prices seemed sensible for such lovely products. Overall I would certainly recommend paying them a visit.

I bought a table and a couple of inlaid marble bowls and we are waiting for them to arrive. I was specifically assured that the bowls were food-safe, since I did not want them to just be something to look at-- I actually wanted them to be used as bowls. With food that will be consumed. This matter was mentioned repeatedly and I was repeatedly assured. I am worried now because a quick internet research shows nothing about its NSF rating or equivalent. I hope I was not just told whatever it takes to sell. I do not know what sealant will be placed on it, if any, that will actually make the bowls food-safe and useable as more than just pretty art pieces. So if the bowls should not actually be used to eat out of, please let me know-- for my safety. And I will just take this as a learning experience. Thank you
