    review about Ooty lake
Ooty Lake is a picturesque gem nestled amidst the verdant hills of Tamil Nadu, India. Its serene waters, encompassed by lush greenery, offer a tranquil retreat for visitors seeking respite from urban bustle. Boating enthusiasts revel in leisurely rides on pedal boats or rowboats, soaking in the breathtaking scenery. Surrounding the lake, vibrant flower gardens and towering eucalyptus trees add to its charm. However, the lake's popularity can lead to crowds, particularly during peak tourist seasons, detracting slightly from the serenity. Overall, Ooty Lake captivates with its natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking tranquility amidst nature's bounty.

Ooty Lake good lake near to Hotel Lakeview
The Ooty Lake was very near to our hotel Lakeview. We went to visit the place and Lake had some good scenic view. The Ooty Lake water is not as clean as Pykara Lake but there lots of activities for children. There are also lush green field were you can sit and spent quality time.

Ooty Lake needs attention to be kept clean
Ooty Lake was a bit crowded. Nothing much for us. Only good for kids as there is lot of activity. As compared to Pykara Lake, this Lake is not maintained properly. It would have been much better if the people working or owning shops take some preventive measure to keep this place clean

We went in peak season end of may. Other times the experience may be different.

Ooty Lake Boat House is a mini amusement park on the banks of Ooty Lake.

The main attraction of the park is boating. There are row boats and paddle boats on one side of the lake, and motor boats with driver on the other side of the lake. Prices are quite high. 800-1500 rs for a 20 min motor boat ride or a one hour pedal/row boat ride. We did not try boats because of 2 hours queue mentioned by booking staff. (No digital queue system. You have to physically stand in queue for two hours to get a 20 min ride)

There are other paid rides at the park, like toy train, giant wheel, horror house, wall of mirrors, etc. All quite pricey. Then there are plenty of stalls with different types of fast food items.

You can spend some time here depending on crowd. There is good parking outside but because of peak all filled.

It's a park where you go to have fun with rides, not to enjoy nature of the lake. If you like this type of park then I recommend to go outside of peak season, it's a waste if time to go during peak.

Ooty lake, also called as Ooty boathouse is a famous tourist attractions located in Ooty in the Nilgiris district Tamil Nadu, India. In this video you understand everything about Ooty lake, timings, entry fee, ride cost etc.

Ooty lake is only 1 km from the Ooty bus stand. you can hire a cab to visit this place. It covers an area of 65 acres. It is an artificially constructed by John Sullivan, who was the collector of Coimbatore in 1824 with picturesque natural surroundings. Originally constructed for the purpose of fishing, the lake has become all but an important tourist landmark in Ooty. The lake is surrounded by groves of Eucalyptus trees with a railway line running along one shore. During the summer boat races are organized for two days as a part of the Summer Festival in Ooty.
For kids, there is a mini train ride . Cycles are available for rent.
You can enjoy the horror house, 7D cinema and mirror house.
You also find a lot of shops selling local items like eucalyptus oils and shawls at competitive prices around the lake.

It was my second visit after childhood visit. The area is now much crowded and a bit dirtier, still the scenic beauty and the food stalls everything kept it altogether memorable. Only the boat rides could have been cheaper according to the state of the boats. Still we enjoyed a lot, that's the bottom line. 😊

It is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Cycling around the lake in evening or morning is enough to calm yourself. Cycles are available for rent there.the main attractions around the lake are the boat races and boat pageantry organized as a part of the summer festival in Ooty. An amusement park is also there for kids fun.
With the mountain railway running through one of it's banks the Ooty lake is among the most beautiful and picturesque lake that you will come across in South India and with greenery all around it's a must visit place to experience and appreciate the beauty of Ooty.

Ooty lake is average and nothing to regret if one could not see it during ooty visit.
Lake within city, but lacks cleanliness. During our visit we found lake water dirty and littered with plastic and paper.

Boating is available here but we did not find it worth to take. It got its fame due to some bollywood and south indian film shot here.

We had been to Ooty lake on oct 2021, its well maintained and also has option to do boating in the lake. You have several options and we selected a motor boat for 3 of us and my son loved it. The operator of the boat was friendly person and he allowed my son to sail it for some time. God experience. Recommended !!

We reached Ooty boat club around 9:45 AM. There was absolutely no crowd around and we hired a speed boat ride. The entry ticket to boat club area is Rs.15 per person. Pedal boats, row boats and speed boats are available with below rate slabs.

We hired a speed boat and went around a ride for 20 minutes. We were offered a lengthier drive by the boatman and we politely declined. The ride was definitely scenic and worth the time.

One of the most important parts of every Ooty tour, Ooty lake is indeed a place to visit. nlt is an artificial lake that was built for fishing purposes. This lake is popular for boating. Tourists can be seen enjoying a refreshing ride on its serene waters. There is boating house located near the lake offering a wide array of boats on hire. Cycling by the side of lake is also worth experiencing. There are also a few shops located around the lake, selling various locally made items.
Excellent lake Government owned and operated. Cheap prices. Pedalboat is around 170. Big queues.amd waiting time for boat Pedal boating is for half an hour. Good eateries inside. Has a small toytrain around the lake too for kids. Big crowds. But after you take a boat it's nice with great scenery and close to nature. There are lot of small wild ducks in the lake too which are good to see. Overall nice

Brings to mind the past. It's good for a day outing. A lot can be done to improve the same. One should have the common sense to go into old records and see for oneself how it should be maintained. Tourism ought to be A Sociology Exotic Sustainable venture.
The so-called Dinosaur Park is an eye sore to the natural beauty of the lake, one can see that it uses the lake as its drain outlet.
Black Thunder and The Dinosaur Park are Tourism Disasters for The Nilgiris.

Tourism is not just building Lodges. The tourists come for leisure and relaxation.
The Nilgiris bio-Diversity is fantastic.
It has to be preserved. Estates being handed over to real estate sharks are ruining this pristine natural resort.

This should be dropped with a heavy hand. Construction not keeping the natural landscape in view is becoming a disaster.
