Good point when the sky are clear if there is mist hardly any visibility.

Also taking a car up is a huge problem as there is a single lane road for going up and coming down, aggrevated by limited parking at the top.

What we enjoyed the most was the crisp weather with rains and eating hot maggi and tea.

Doddabetta has a false hype, there is nothing exotic about the view in summers. The traffic is totally mismanaged, with vehicles parked randomly, narrow roads, if you manage to get up the hill, there is no guarantee you will be able to come down. If you must visit, pick a week day and early morning hours.

This was a very average hill top. Too crowded and not worth time and money at all. It' overhyped place.

You need to leave and reach before 9AM. Anytime later and you will be stuck in mindless traffic.
Also check the weather and make sure it is clear day otherwise you will only be seeing fog and clouds and no view.
Also be prepared for crowds and traffic. The later you are the more traffic there will be

The view is really good and it is one of the highest peak of Tamil Nadu. You can get a very good view of Nilgiri mountain region from here. I would suggest to start early so that you can enjoy the place with a good weather and shop around.

There were big crowds on a Monday 8am in April. There are lots of shops and eateries at the top of the mountain. We were hoping for a pastoral, hiking trip and found a thriving commercial venture on top of a mountain.

Doddabetta is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Mountains at 2,637 metres (8,652 feet). There is a reserved forest area around the peak. It is 9 km from Ooty, on the Ooty-Kotagiri Road in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu, India. It is a popular tourist attraction with road access to the summit. It is the fourth highest peak in South India next to Anamudi, Mannamalai and Meesapulimala. The peaks Hecuba (2375 m), Kattadadu (2418 m) and Kulkudi (2439 m) are the three closely linked summits in the west of the Doddabetta range near to Udagamandalam. The word Doddabetta is derived from Kannada language meaning big hill.
