Review of: 2-Hour Walking Tour of Madurai
A little scary in the back streets with no lighting but really worthwhile! Cows, milking, sun-rise, fruit bats, fruit, banana & veg markets followed by breakfast.

If you are one of those westerners that has become addicted to the many walking tours in Europe, like we have, then you should love this. We started early in the morning, 05:40, with our brilliant guide Leena. She walked us through the residential areas to experience daily Indian traditions, then, through the markets. Leena very politely asked if we wanted to sample some local food and beverages along the route, which we definitely did, so the tour becomes a foody tour if you want it too. We enjoyed this tour very much. It was a fantastic way to get an authentic feel for the city, and I would thoroughly recommend it for anyone interested in feeling more like a local. We walked through charming narrow streets just as dawn began to break and ended up surveying colourful street markets and traders gearing up for the day. Our guide, Karthik, was informative, friendly and helpful, and paced the tour really well. He also has great skill taking photos, and the pictures he took of us while on this walking tour that are some of the best we got during our whole trip in India.…
