The storytrail was an unique way to get to know Madurai. It was fascinating to see history buried among the hustle and bustle of the city. I would highly recommend this trail for adults who would like to learn the history, rulers of Madurai and Mythology about Meenakshi temple. It is NOT suited for young children who are less than 10 years old.

We went to Madurai in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and we were fortunate because our driver contact with this well prepared tour guide. 33 years old but with his degree in History of India and a very good taste of western mentality. He introduced the history of the big temple and the sultan palace among other exciting things that gripping us during 2 hours. He gave us data but with understanding reasons for westerns about cultural issues. The best, undoubtedly, and very affordable. If you go there call or email him I strongly recommend his services rishiguide@yahoo.co.in. telephone number 00 91 98 43 065687

Very informative. Learned many things that I would not have , otherwise!
Swarna is a charming, articulate and lovely story trailer!
Have done a couple of story trails in Chennai and love them.
Would do all the other ones, as time permits, sooner than later!

I attended this trail with my wife in Jan 13.They started at 7am in the morning ,took us walking around all the hidden places in madurai which would be otherwise very very crowded. The Guide was explaining everything in english. The guide had excellent information about each temple and statue which they took us around. They charged me Rs.500 for a 3 hour trip,i felt it was reasonable for the information they shared about madurai.Especially because this was my first visit to madurai.

We had a really interesting time @ story trail, dicovering sights and mythsical tales formerly unknown tho' I've lived im madurai during my childhood years.
The refreshing tender coconut break and the quaint rickshaw ride was fun.
We enjoyed Akila's humourous narrations.
Hope we have more new trails to come.
All the best, Rishwanth and Shuba!

We did 4 Storytrails in Madurai, the Food trail, Spice Trail, Potters Trail and Once Upon a Madurai. Their unique method of weaving a story around each of their activities, even to the stage that they are not guides but "storytellers", is really something else. Our 2 Storytellers, Pria and Swarna were very special ladies for whom nothing was a problem. The Food Trail was a really great introduction to regional cuisine. Once Upon a Madurai was a fantastic walking tour and would match those in any other country. The Spice Trail gives a unique insight into cooking - I suppose some would call it a cooking class - but it is more than that and the Potters Trail is different again.I cannot recommend Storytrails highly enough.

I chose to do the morning tour and learn about the old town and it’s streets surrounding the temple.
The tour started at 7am outside one of the temple gates.
There was only three of us, but the guide had a great system of earpieces for each participant, and a mic if there was a larger group.
The tour wasn’t strenuous and offered a fun and interesting tale about the residents, mythology and history of Madurai.
Our guide took us through the market streets and we visited some land marks I never would have noticed, or found on my own.
Because of the early start time we had the streets to ourselves. No noise, no traffic and no dust.
The tour finished with a delicious local breakfast and it offered a chance to talk, and swap advise with my fellow travellers.
Our guide was warm, friendly and had a good sense of humour.
What she couldn’t answer (which wasn’t much) she looked up or got back to me with an email with the answer.
The company are professional, and responded and communicated very quickly and efficiently.
I thoroughly recommend doing this tour, and recommend the company Story Trails.

Hello, Thank you very much for your detailed review and recommendation! We had the best time walking with you, and love being challenged. We're storytellers, and are always looking for answers (and tales, of course). The streets of Madurai are lovely in the mornings and do offer a traffic-free perspective of local life, we're so glad we got to share that with you. Whenever you are in Chennai or Pondicherry next, do give us a shout for more walks! Thanks, Storytrails

We spent a hugely enjoyable last afternoon of 2016 exploring Madurai with Pria and Swanna, our two great guides from Storytrails. We love leaving the well trodden tourist path and this was a perfect way to do it, with interesting stories, hidden gems and exposure to the sounds, smells and energy of Madurai. A must for those who like to get under the skin of a city!

Prarthana rocked this tour! She was so good, completely captivating and her story delivery was excellent. Don't expect a city tour because it's not, it's something far, far better....
