A fabulous experience for a nut allergic Brit. Thank you so much for looking after me and managing to find interesting street food that I could eat . It was wonderful to feel safe eating in places where would not be able to eat on my own.
We had s wonderful evening

This was hands down the best food tour we've ever done. Our guide took us all over Madurai for the best places to sample idlis, dosas and so much more! The food was, without exception, absolutely delicious 😋 Highly recommended!

The Foodie-Tour was a great experience to visit and taste different delicacies in Madurai, restaurants and streetfood. Just a different way to get to know this city. Ram Prakash was a super nice, knowledgable and caring guide. Very good organization around. Highly recommend!!

We totally loved the Foodie Tour.
As someone who has recently become gluten intolerant I was looking for a tour that would ensure I got a taste of Southern Indian cuisine while having the confidence of a guide who could explain what I could not eat. The tour lived up to and exceeded my expectations. We were introduced to a wide range of delicious foods. Mukunthan was very clear about the few things I could not eat. In fact I learnt there was a lot more I could eat than I had initially assumed which added to the enjoyment of the rest of our trip. However the Foodies Day Out is not just about the food it is also about having a fun evening out filled with relaxed, intelligent conversation. Visiting the night market was also a highlight. Madurai is a vibrant city with a long and rich history. When you get to Madurai a Foodies Day Out, is a must. Thank you Mukunthan for a wonderful evening.

This was the second time we join this food tour in Madurai. First of all it needs to be said that Madurai is an authentic, thriving and fascinating city that sweeps you off your feet with its hectic, colourful and friendly atmosphere. The food tour reflects this and in an informal, easy and mouth watering way manages to give you a taste of the real street food of the region. As the day light wanes and the nightlife starts to get busy, our guide Praveena helped us navigate traffic and side streets, from one food spot to another: fruit carts, spice shops, “hotels” (Indian denomination for local food outlets) and street stalls, taking in all the authentic flavours a real foodie would expect, while telling the tales and secrets of the city. What really makes a difference is that the four friends that set up the food tour and still personally guide you, are themselves foodies and grew up in Madurai. Their local knowledge is evident, and their fun, well spoken manner is only matched by their passion for their hometown and its variegated food traditions. One of the best food tour experiences we have ever had.

We had a most enjoyable (and very filling) tasty tour of the best stalls and restaurants in central Madurai. Praveena was a highly knowledgeable and super-enthusiastic foodie guide who ended up driving us around herself as the taxi company let her down at the last minute. I loved her ‘scaling’ how full we were a fair way into the tour 0 - hungry 10 - completely stuffed (my description!). Highly recommended as everyone before has said.

Wonderful experience that really gives you a chance to sample the rich food culture of South India and Madurai through local eateries and streetfood vendors, that you would otherwise never discover. Jafreen was a really great guide, providing insights about all the food, sharing personal stories and always accommodating. An experience you really should not miss when in Madurai as it shows a whole other diverse part of the city!

We booked this tour as our Christmas dinner and we ended up feeling as full as we would have been if we had had been at home! However it was incredibly different to what we normally would have eaten on Christmas Day but nonetheless just as good!

Praveena and Mukunthan are passionate about food and their home town of Madurai. They both travel extensively and enjoy the cooking and food cultures of wherever they travel but it is evident that the food snd culture of this vibrant South Indian city is closest to their hearts!

The best thing about doing these types of tours is that you get to discover food you would never normally choose and can use this knowledge going forward. In India it’s also a case of food that I wouldn’t normally be brave enough to choose for fear of becoming ill, so having. Praveena and Mukunthan to reassure us was invaluable. And reader, no one was ill!

We made sure we were starving when we started and that’s my tip to anyone doing this tour. The tour only finishes when no one can eat another thing.

We ate food from around the region, learned how to eat with our hands, how to clean and dispose of a banana leave plate politely, and it goes on….

& the food was totally delicious 🌟🇮🇳
