It was superb journey thru the mountains in the age old heritage train from Coonor to Ooty. The train is indeed a toy train. stations are also very small but clean. Yiou can do online reservation on IRCTC website to ensure a confirmed seat. ticket cost are very nominal. In case of last minute booking, be prepared to wait in... More

It was marvellous journey thru the mountains of Ooty and Coorg area. The train is indeed like a toy train. However, the booking system need to be improved. One has to stand in queue early morning for booking. Then one has to stand in long queue for taking a seat. Since computerisation is possible, the whole process shall be online.... More

Absolutely one of the highlights of our trip through South India. Make sure you book your tickets in advance.

Get to the station early as the ticket counter opens 15 mins before departure. If you are tall take the seat next to the door or the last bench seat.

Any tourist should have a trip on this heritage train. I took it from Coonoor to Ooty and I was amazed by the views it presented. I would highly recommend this.

We had taken the first class ticket so our journey was quite comfortable. The cool air and the awesome awesome view were the best parts. There are two-three stops. The first class ticket is Rs.150 per person and the second class ticket is Rs.25.

We managed to have seats on the steam train from Coonoor to Mettupalaiyam using what we call in France Système D. Trying to book in advance with the Indian Railway en line site is a nightmare, in fact we almost gave up. The effort was worth every Rupee and more a lovely journey through the hills with magnificent views; we... More

It was only on my third trip to Ooty that I was able to experience the heritage toy train - thanks to Club Mahindra's Derby Green Villas who arranged for this trip, It was a short trip from Ooty to Conoor railways station. For those who do not have reserved seats, I would suggest that one reaches the Ooty station... More

Toy train is a must see activity in Ooty. Go at least 30 min before the departure time. Get a ticket to Coonoor. Then move to platform and stay in the queue as entry is controlled (first-come, first-in). Seats inside the train are not as comfortable as you expect. But anyway this is a heritage train, you are there to... More

This can waste a lot of your time if you dont plan properly.I mean I would advice to catch the early morning train only to save the time for which you need to get the tickets by 8.30AM sameday(Remember you will have to stand in queue). Anything after that time is not worth. You need to stand in queue anywhere from... More
