It is an amazing lifetime journey. While the train moves the beauty of nature sprouts its wings of mountains and forests. I think one should experience and feel it at the earliest

There is no difference in the experience with first class or second class except the price. I would suggest to go for second class at one sixth the cost per ticket. Always go for left hand seat for best view. The best time to go is by 12.35 pm from Coonoor station and would reach Ooty by 1.35 pm.

Well wanted the kids to get a flavour but wasn't that good for me or them either . The views are nice but perhaps I was led to believe that they would be spectacular . My memory of the Kalka Shimla train is better though it is now 25 years ago and travel always look better in hindsight :-)

Good train ride from Coonoor to Udagamandal (Ooty). Very picturesque and the Heritage train even has a steam engine but our trip was driven by a diesel engine. There are 3 stations Wellington, Aravankadu, and Letting between and the total journey takes 1.5hrs. Please queue atleast 45mins earlier as for the general booking starts 30mins before departure. The general fare... More

This is a Must do activity in Coonoor. The heritage train is a 'push' train with engine @ the back. The view is scenic. Conoor- Ooty is an hour long journey but has super scenic views especially if you want to see sunrise from the hills.

Very joyful and pleasant ride for 1 hour from Ooty to Coonoor. It passes through the mountains with great scenic beauty. You can get unreserved tickets in the station just before journey or else you can book tickets in advance through IRTC site.
