The museum is closed since March 2020 and is not yet opened for public. But this information is not available anywhere in their website and hence people visiting there are getting disappointed after reaching there. It would be there if this is explicitly mentioned in the website

The museum is very well designed and executed. Simply a top class one for A GOVERNMENT work in this part of the country. Rs 50 is charge per adults. Children above 3 are to pay Rs 30. It is a bit high but worthy. Not far off...after all... from city centre. Only issue is it is open only on the workdays and closes that too by 4pm

The extensive collection and expansive display not only covers butterflies (original plan), but also other 27 orders of Insects. The fine display and details of exhibits has taken the efforts and skill of a lot in Dept of Entomology. This is an unique place visit and first in India.

This is a "Must do' for every citizen of Coimbatore and those visiting the city.
Its indeed a great way of learning about insects, their evolution, life cycle, contribution to Planet earth and more importantly to the continuation of the Human race.
Make sure to spare atleast 2 hours to go through the exhibits in detail. Make sure to take the help of the staff provided for guiding visitors as they are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Apart from the exhibits, the souvenirs made using vegatable dyes, the Giant ant hills, the apiary and the pitcher plants (the first time I saw one) were very engaging.
The theatre is very well done and comfortable but does not seem to have movies other than BBC earth videos (which people anyway have access to at their homes).

Kudos to the Entomology department of TNAU for giving Coimbatore this "Intellectual Jewel"

Insect Museum at Agriculture University is a wonderful place to be. So much wealth of information, neatly arranged thousands of preserved insects, live models, interactive display boards, termites, honey bees. The concept used is Bugs are Kings. A place to visit if in Coimbatore. There is an air conditioned auditorium which plays informative videos about life of insects.
