Travelled about 400 kms from south and reached chidambaram to visit the temple, after a sudden decision.. there are many mysteries behind this temple... wonders about hindu religion, tamil culture and language, and even the answer for the word, "god" could be revealed, if the mysteries behind this temple comes out.

We called at this Temple on the way to Tanjore and enjoyed the visit. It was very busy with Indian families as it was one of the Pongal days in Tamil Nadu. The Hindu Temples in this area are well worth seeing and quite a few are stunning

Very colourful and one of the most important temples to see. Really crowded and dirtier than other temples though and we felt like there were more priests than anywhere else who kept asking for money at very corner and wouldn't budge even though we had given a decent amount just before !

Chidambaram temple is less than 2 hours drive from Pondicherry. The best part is you can and you should club this visit with pichavaram. The second largest mangroves in the world after Sunderbans. The moment you enter the temple ,if you are spiritually inclined, you will feel silence in the mind. I am not sure of others. This is a... More

Chidambaram, in Tamil Nadu, is the abode of the Celestial Dancer, Lord Nataraja. We recently visited this massive temple complex that houses the main temple, besides temples of Goddess Shivakami Amman, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. 4 tall gopurams were visible from a central point in the complex. At the shrine’s entrance, a priest was issuing tokens to enter the... More

Chidambaram Nataraja is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located around 280 kM south of Chennai, The temple is actually a huge complex and has seen many renovations in its history, during the days of Pallava / Chola emperors. The temple complex spread over 50 acres in the heart of the city. It is an ancient and historic temple... More

The temple complex is huge. Wonderful architectural design. We went soon after Diwali so there was no rush in the temple. We had a nice darshan. However if you pay 100 Rs per head you can go near and have a great view. Photography is restricted inside the main sanctum. There are stories depicting the importance of the temple in... More
