Amazing view above 17000ft altitude. One suggestion to all bring precautions to prevent high altitude sickness. Better to bring at least 10 LT portable Oxygen can/cylinder and some medicines after consulting doctor. It is a tough 4 hour journey in a muddy road. So it is preferable to bring all precautions to enjoy the lake and surrounding nature for a... More

Any nature lover would die to see this place. Since this place is at 177700 ft above sea level, people like me will face breathing problem. Dont forget to eat lots of proteins and iron content food a day before u leave to Gurudongmar. Carry Ginger, garlic and eat popcorn which will reduce high altitude sickness. Military force is always... More

Since we were only a couple so we went in sharing basis. 13 April 2017- 11am- Our journey started from the Changu stand/North sikkim Taxi stand in a shared Mahindra MAxx. The destination was Lachen in North Sikkim District. we passed through good sites like the Tashi view point... More

The journey is an arduous one from Lachen. At 18,500 feet you may feel dizzy and short of breath. Nausea and vomitting is also very common. Even local drivers have headache due to lack of oxygen. But if you can endure all the pain, the lake is just too picturesque to miss. This is one of the most beautiful places... More

Absolute beauty Tip: the journey is very very bumpy and not for the faint hearted. Low oxygen will lead to headache

This place is at altitude of around 17000 ft as a result the oxygen level is low and very cold. The view of the lake is very scenic surrounded my mountains from all the side and clear blue sky above. But the weather is very cold and windy and its very difficult to stay out of the vehicle for very... More

17500 feet, low oxygen, but something worth seeing and a lifetime experience. Lake is frozen ice, all around snow peaks, sounds of chilly wind, clear sky. Journey though difficult, still worth it. Not suitable for old people and those have breathing problems.

I collect lots of information about this place before visit. But believe me, those are useless when you actually be in that place. The entire view of the trip was awesome. The road trip was a bit problem but you will forgot everything once you reach the lake. Whenever you plan for north Sikkim, add this place to your priority... More

While most places are crowded and commercialised, here's one place on earth that's the place for tranquility. I was here yesterday morning and it was just mesmerising. Although hostile, if health is not in its best, but taking that extra 4hours rough ride is the best. I was lucky to spend 1.5 hours around the frozen lake, took the circular... More
