- Kapil SoodBengaluru, India146 contributionsSerene place, must visit along with City Palace UdaipurAn awesome must visit temple in Udaipur. You'll get attracted to the deity here and really enjoy the place. You should cover this while visiting City Palace itself as this is 5min walk from the rear exit of City Palace. However, do remember to retain the City Palace entrance tickets as you'll need to show them while entering back. This will take away any hassles of parking the car for this temple visit.Visited December 2022Written 5 December 2022

We exited the rear city side gates of the Palace to walk down the hill to this awesome temple in the centre of Udaipur. It was around Diwali so there were plenty of people, had to remove shows before entering as is the norm.Visited October 2022Written 11 January 2023

It is a wonder of Hindu iconography, where the keen photographer doesn't know what to snap first. Stories of hand carved sculptures depict musicians, dancers, elephants and innumerable deities. It is an active temple, so shoes off, sit back and show respect.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 March 2023
- Haggis_SupperBeaumaris, Australia722 contributionsBeautiful carvings/architecture - shame about the government salesmanJagdish is the oldest temple in Udaipur, some 400 years old. It’s also located close to the City Palace and in the old city, so easy to find. No entrance fees but being a temple, remove you socks and shoes and once inside, no photography. We had a brief, quiet wander into the temple itself, always fascinating to see others at worship and the importance of the temple. The outside building remains in excellent condition and the carvings are beautiful. Unfortunately we were approached by a gentleman who insisted he was a government employee and just wanted to show us around. Uncertain as to the validity of this statement we politely explained we just wanted to wander around. He left but then returned 10 minutes later, encouraged us into a side building and then tried to sell us paintings, which though beautiful were of no interest. At that point we just left when we really should have taken some more time to enjoy the architecture. Go early to avoid the crowds and heat. Avoid the salesman and allow 30 minutes.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 April 2023
- Sandy_JSRJamshedpur, India1,565 contributionsHistorical TempleJagdish Temple is situated just outside the city palace, a short walk from the city palace is needed for visit. However, the walk to the temple is through marketplace, hence one may encounter salesmen in-between, individual discretion is recommended in dealing with them. This is an old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple has an attractive architecture with curved pillars, elegant ceilings and painted walls. As the temple is made on elevated platform, one has to climb over 30 odd stiff marble stairs for visit and offering prayer and puja. Puja offerings (like flowers, prasad) are available at the footstep of the temple. A visit to this ancient temple along with City Palace is recommended.Visited March 2023Written 6 June 2023

The sheer detail in the carved decoration of this temple is bewildering. Every surface bears a figure or symbol and it's noticable that the attention to detail is the same whether you look at ground level or on the highest reaches.
Take note of the huge marble disc that forms the top of the tower and then try to work out how the builders got it up there in a pre-industrial age.

NO dear , photographer is not allowed. You may use your own handphone for taking the snaps of the temple architecture but cannot take a separate photographer inside the temple.
Are there any dress code restrictions?

Not as such, but out of respect one can avoid wearing too short clothes. Otherwise nothing hard and fast.
