Could be a great place throughout the year but isn’t maintained as much.
If you do go, please book a car for the roundtrip or an auto that will wait for you for the duration of your sightseeing here.

Sort of openair live museum/market. Paid lokal guide to show us around which was very informative and interesting. Nice handicraft on sale and several music and dancing performances. Everyone very friendly.

Nothing to see. Disinterested people trying to show india culture, place is dusty and not well kept- doesn’t evoke any reflection of India’s cultural diversity

A very poorly advertised tourist spot but it is a must visit in Udaipur. It’s close to Fateh Sagar lake. It is a re creation of different villages in India and houses locals from those very villages. These locals perform beautiful folk dances and musical events representing their respective cultures. There are various artists live such as making pottery, weaving, marble and stone work, miniature paintings, textile work, bandhni work, jewellery and mojri making. The prices are fair and the profits directly go the artisans themselves.

This place is in the outskirts of the city, near Badi lake. It's basically if u wanna buy art stuff, they have made a small artifical village, where different artists showcase and sell their art. There are also shops selling jootis, handicrafts, showpieces, etc

What I got to see when I visited Shilpgram but NOT during the Crafts Festival days.
It looked deserted.
Pottery - Walked and walked and found a few shops/display of potteries.
Art - A few lovely pieces of marble art (dancing women, piano).
Puppet show - A kid literally requested us to watch his puppet show. He performed for just the two of us.
Folk dance - Watched tribal performance at open air amphitheatre. They were performing with the same enthusiasm for a very small gathering.
Huts - Met some artisans who stay in those 26 huts which are also their workplace.
A barren cafeteria - Just tea/coffee and some chips were available at the cafeteria.

It's open always normally. Weather is fine in August in Rajasthan. It's better to go early evening at it closes between 5-6 pm.
How can I organise my own art gallery at Shilpgram Udaipur

I feel it may not be possible in Shilpgram because its place for rural artisans to display their artof cloth weaving, handicrafts, folk singing etc in day time only.
However in Bagore KI haveli an exhibition of paintings was running in a organised manner.
I feel you may contact them

Is it worth visiting in late September?

If you are looking for a glimpse of some Indian and Rajasthani culture then it is worth visiting it. Even though it will not be as good as when the shilpgram festival is on, it still has all the permanent structures there, including huts and houses from various parts of india and also the wall paintings etc. Am not sure if they do a folk dance show everyday, you can easily check it with your hotel of have them call shilpgram for you.
Another place you could visit for a folk dance show is Bagore ki Haveli, located right next to lake pichola. They have dance shows every evening.

hi...I want to know the timings of Shilpgram in udaipur for the month of March
RSS

Hi,
Shilpagram is open all days 11.00 hrs – 19.00 hrs.
Worth going to but do check when buying stuff as some of the vendors are not completely honest. They offer a certain product for eg. 6 meters of fabric, but when you get it home and measure it will be quite a bit less, also sell damaged pieces etc.. so be careful.
There is an old potter couple who live there and have a permanent stall - their products are good and genuine.
The best time to go is during a artisan festival - I believe there is a Mewar festival happening in March.
Hope this helps.
