Lovely visit during our lake tour. We had a wonderful thali lunch, very reasonably priced, in the gorgeous pavilion, right at the lake and with AC.
It was busy Diwali time so great to have the relative peace on the island. So beautiful.
the boat cruise prices are steep but worth it to hang around at Jagmandir garden restaurant watching the lake, sunset sipping a coffee or wine....
For a holiday maker, good place to click some amazing photos.
The entry to Jag Mandir is through city Palace costing 450/person in the morning and 750/person from afternoon onwards. The boat ride from the adjoining park is at 250/person with no stop at Jag mandir, which is just fine.

The entry to city palace is just for the palace. Inside the palace there is a counter for purchasing tickets for boat ride separately. You can take the boat from a jetty inside the palace premises. It is every 20 min or so. Then you get down at Jag Mandir, see the place 30 min is sufficient. Have a costly cup of coffee if you want, photo op in gardens etc. Then you can catch any boat back which is there to drop next set of people. Again every 20 min or so. A good time is to go close to sunset so you can see the lights come on all along the lake palace and Udaipur, which is quite nice. Last boat is close to 0800 pm ( pl verify this when you are leaving the palace). And you could still make it back in time for light and sound show in the palace premises.
Hope it helps
