Best experienced at sunrise and sunset.
The lake is surrounded by architectural masterpieces and feels like it belongs to another era. A boat ride gives you closer up views of the various hotels and buildings as well as views further away. A brief stop at one of the islands for refreshments was a pleasant way to get away from the heat and humidity. Great photography ops.

    Serene water body
A boat ride to jag mandir and back is a must to experience the lake and also the architecture around the lake . One gets a wonder view of the palace hotel, lake palace, jag mandir and the lakefront during the boat ride . Own can also see the helipad in the middle of the lake . If one wants a meal then one can pre book at Jag Mandir and the boat ride then become complimentary.

A nice way to see the city
It’s probably a must do on any itinerary certainly does not require a guide. The boat leaves the ghat at least every 20 mins and it s a relatively serene short slow putt putt along the edge of the lake to the main commercial island. The return journey,no longer requires ticketing and you can just board any returning boat. It’s similar to a Venice boat cruise or a ferry ride across Sydney harbour, you just happen to be in udaipur.

    picturesque lake
Lake Pichola right at the heart of the city with backdrop of Aravali’s,is a popular attraction in the city. it is surrounded by lush greenery . Maharana Udai Singh, fascinated by the charm of this lake, with the backdrop of green hills, founded the city of Udaipur on the banks of the lake. Lake is flanked by islands, palaces, temples, mansions, ghats and restaurants, Best time to visit this lake is evening ,you can enjoy sunset as this time the lake looks even more beautiful.Dont miss the boat ride.

    Expansive and calm
Its a beautiful lake and has the Lake Palace in the middle. Lake could be cleaner though. The City Palace borders the lake. On one side of the lake is the beautiful Leela Palce hotel.

    Romance and beauty
In the backdrop of lush green mountains, this artificial fresh water lake in a very romantic setting is a must visit in Udaipur to enjoy the boating, have a view from distance of the world famous Lake Palace hotel and to see the nearby gardens ( the musical fountain at nearby Manikya .Verma park was not working ). The smaller lake called Dudh Talai is also nearby. A drive through the old city took us to historic Gangaur Ghat to adore the beauty of lake Pichola from a hand shaking distance.

    Gorgeous views
Lake Pichola is a very happening place since there are many attractions close to it. The views from here are fantastic... You can do boating here. The view of the Taj Lake Palace Hotel which is in the middle of this lake is absolutely stunning! You can see a lot of tourists taking pictures of themselves with the Taj Lake Palace hotel in the background! City Palace hotel and museum are on the shores of this lake and are worth a visit.

    Give boat a miss
Most best attractions in Udaipur are around the Pichola Lake area, so you will see it from a few angles. No doubt, it is lovely to have lunch or dinner on one of the countless roof-top restaurants around it ; especially at night, it looks fabulous. What I advise against, however, is the "must do" boat ride on it. First you are herded like cattle to wait for your boat, then requested to wear a bulky orange life vest for the duration of the ride. Straight to Jagmandir Island "the wedding venue island" . . . why ?! There really is nothing of interest. A waste of a solid hour. Just enjoy sights from shore and give the boat a miss.

    Beautiful
Lake Pichola, Udaipur is an artificial lake. Situated adjacent to City Palace, the lake has beautiful surroundings and attractions for tourists. The lake houses famous Taj Lake Palace hotel and islands like Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas within the lake. Post visit of City Palace, we had gone for an afternoon boat ride @ Rs. 500 per pax, however at evening the rate increases. The boat ride was enjoyable under cool breeze, it took us through the lake and by the side of hotels, ghats, etc. and dropped at Jag Mandir and return. One may spend sufficient time at Jag Mandir Island, but the place doesn’t offer anything of special interest, barring few restaurants. In short, a visit and boat ride at Lake Pichola is a must do activity at Udaipur.

Lake Pichola, the symbol of Udaipur
Lake Pichola is the largest lake in Udaipur, the City of Lakes. What is amazing is that the lakes in Udaipur were man made fresh water lakes. These lakes were built as a network with the overflow from one flowing into another. These lakes provide the fresh water to the city. Lake Pichola is surrounded by hotels, palaces and large havelis with the City Palace, the residence of the former royal family taking pride of place - they still reside there. At the middle of the lake is the Lake Palace that has been a luxury (very pricey) hotel run by Taj Hotels for the past 60+ years. The other landmark on the lake is the Jag Mandir Palace, once a royal temple, that is now a venue for weddings and other events. The best way to get get a tour of the lake is a boat ride from the City Palace. The ride takes you around the lake to the Jag Mandir Palace and then brings you back to the starting point. A trip worth taking. You can’t visit Udaipur without seeing Lake Pichola & taking the ride.

Amazing views and memorable experience. The boat ride and ropeway ride are just good to enjoy. There are many activities on top after reaching the top with ropeway. Like aquarium visit, virtual games, restaurants, massage therapy, fish foot spa, fire pan, chat cone etc.
There is also a photo service with Traditional costume. There is Karnimata temple and a Dargah up there. The view from the cable car cabin is quite nice. Ride is for 4 to 5 minutes. As only 3 cabins move up and down there may be a waiting time for 30 minutes on rush days.
Boat ride takes you to Jagmandir.
We felt these were a must feel experience when in Udaipur. We visited the place just a day before a bollywood actresses wedding but there was no problem at all.

Went thrice in four days for boating at the lake in a luxury motor boat with sofa it seems your drawing room is floating a 20 minutes ride cost you ₹320 per head on the 10 seater boat also available is a bigger ordinary 30 seater motor boat at ₹180 per headThe boat jetty is st Doodh talo adjoining the palace boundary

In the boat ride you get to see the Udaipur palace taj and oberoi group hotels and Jag mandir palace one can even spot dome birds on the helipad in the lake the entire experience is worth visit again and again we make it a point to visit every day when in Udaipur

Boating experience has been really great it give a closer look at the palaces you could also enjoy birdwatching along with sightseeing.
It seems the ticket for boating riding is a little costly and givan a busy day where you have to go through the huge crowd.
