We had an amazing cooking class with Shashi and her family. They welcomed us like if we were home and they all thought us something which was really nice. My boyfriend and I were the only ones that night so it was a really nice private class in which we got to participate a lot (I believe they try to limit the groups to 5-6 max in the event of higher demand, but they have the space for it !). We got to roll dough, crush spices, garlic and ginger using the mortal and pestal and cook the curries and the breads. Shashi and her family thought us a lot of things about Indian cuisine, especially how they do it at home versus what we get to eat in restaurants here, as well as many things about India in general. They provided great tips ans tricks to make sure you get the most out of the food. We of course ate everything we cooked (arrive with an empty stomach). We highly recommend doing your cooking class (if you are considering doing one) with them. You will leave with so many recipes as well as new knowledge. Now we can’t wait to cook for our families and friends.

Amazing cooking experience! We cooked Chai, 2 curries, chapati, chutneys, and desert. All of the food was amazing, especially the cheese and tomatoe naan! The whole family are very kind, welcoming and friendly. When we walked in they gave us beautiful bracelets and talked to us about their culture. We got to eat pakora, chai, curries, naans and chapatis. Their house and kitchen is beautiful, clean and very homely. You get to cook yourself and also watch them. They give you lots of tips and have a booklet with the recipes and steps for you to take home. They picked us up and dropped us off at our hostel and we did the 10.30am - 2.30pm experience, they also do a 5.30pm - 9.30pm experience too. They offer a mixture of spices and cook books to buy at the end, which are cheaper than in the market. It was a fantastic experience that we will remember for a long time. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Udaipur! Thank you so much ❤️

Shashi and her son and daughter in law led this class for me and my girlfriend and another couple. The skills we learnt felt like the heart of Indian cooking and has equipped us to make anything now! Also, the class booked was only 3 1/2 hours, but we were there for almost 5 hours at no extra cost. They welcomed us into their home so respectfully, and at the end there was so much food to eat that they gave us takeaway containers to bring some home. They also had a selection of really useful and delicious homemade spices available to buy at the end for very cheap. My girlfriend was unfortunately quite unwell during the class and Shashi provided her with some ginger tea and gave her the space to just sit and watch so she could still enjoy. Thank you so much - a must do if you are in Udaipur :)

We were recommended to do this by a friend who came 4 years ago and still remembers her experience, and now I understand why! We had smiles on our faces from the start to the end of the 4 hour experience… We learnt so much about Indian cooking and were given recipes to follow along and take home. Shashi and her whole family were so kind and fun to be around. Thank you so much!

We had an amazing experience with Shashi and her family. We learned so much about traditional indian cooking. Shashi has been doing this for more than twenty years and not only is she still so passionate about teaching, she is also a tremendous cook. She explained every step of each recipe, the reason for using this or that spice or ingredient. It was so interesting. We cooked many different dishes. All were absolutely delicious, probably the best meal we’ve had in our 2 months in India. We cannot wait to try the recipes at home. Thank you so much!

My friend and I had the privilege of being invited into Sashi’s home, as we were her first in person cooking class since the start of the pandemic. We cannot say enough about how incredible the experience was. Her son, Ashish, picked us up on a scooter from our hotel and drove us to his home. From there, Sashi, Ashish, and both of her daughters-in-law gave us royal treatment — helping us prepare each dish and giving in depth instruction on how to perfect the basics of several Indian dishes. We walked away with such a great appreciation for the incredible ingredients and flavors, but even more so, we will never forget the experience with the entire family and learning so much about them and Indian familial culture along the way. The next time you are in India and are even thinking about heading to Udaipur, cooking with Sashi is a “can’t miss”! We will be back.

Had a great time today in the virtual cooking class. Shashi and her family were great fun, with nice clear instruction and very patient with us! The food was delicious, I will definitely be making again, and will never need to buy naan again

This is a great place to visit and enroll in one of the cooking classes, ours went over about 3 hours, hosted by Shasha and her sons – her story is amazing and one of great resilience in the face of misfortune. Her discussion of Indian cooking techniques and spices is very good and you are given a handout with stacks of recipes and techniques – including Masala Chai, Pakoras, Chutneys, and various curries. After preparing and cooking the foods you get to eat them which is great fun. The school is upstairs occupying a large room in the heart of Udaipur, and quite close to our hotel.

Great morning cooking with Shashi with help from her son and nephew. Lots of tips on how to make excellent Indian food and the results were really tasty. Will definitely be trying the recipes when we get home 😀
