Cooking Class Udaipur
Nov 2019
This was a "surprise" visit on our scheduled tour by Shikhar Travels (Delhi). We had mapped out our own itinerary for Shikhar and they added this stop to our visit of Udaipur which we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Mamta and Gautam made us feel like family they were so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed this part of our trip so much as it made a lovely change from the tours of the wonderful architecture and monuments. We spent several hours watching, learning and participating in the cooking of our meal "family style" and even though we did cook ourselves in conjunction with Mamta the food was amazing! The recipes were emailed to us so we can continue to enjoy and I had the foresight to purchase some of the spices needed while still in India. What a treat this was!

A must do activity!
Feb 2020
Throughout our three weeks in India, we marveled at the wonderful the Indian food so it was real treat to have a cooking class with Mamta and her son, Gautam. The class was held in Mamta's home which made the experience even more authentic. Mamta closely supervised all of the preparation and cooking. Gautam answered questions as well as recorded the experience. The food was delicious and we were given all of the recipes. It was a delightful way to spend 3.5 hours and would highly recommend as a must do activity in Udaipur.

Hands on and tasty

Can’t recommend Mamta cooking class enough! We had the best time! Went for the standard menu and was there for 3.5 hrs. The food was delicious! Reviews for other places complain about being a bit less hands on, but at Mamta you get stuck in! We did everything from the chopping to measuring out the spices. All under the perfect guidance of Mamta and Gautam. Loved the fact that you’re cooking in their home kitchen, it’s got a really nice feel and all the family are so welcoming. Gautam’s niece is cute!

Superb!

We chose to do this incredibly jet lagged on our first night in India, and absolutely loved it. Gautam came and picked us up (and dropped us off) at our hotel, which was so helpful. My dad and I absolutely loved the entire experience, not only was the food delicious and the experience educational, but the company of our group was so much fun. Can’t recommend this enough if you want to experience some local Udaipur flavor!

Cooking with Mamta was amazing! Authentic local food with a personal touch. If you’re visiting Udaipur on your own or as a group, do this cooking class - you won’t regret it! Mamta was a greater teacher and provided me with great experience to cook authentic Indian food when I get home. Gautam was a great host making the class very personal and adding great humour! They also gave me the opportunity to buy home made spices to perfect my own recipes in the future.

After the class Gautam took me on a tour of the local street food which was a fantastic experience. The day with this family made my trip to udaipur unforgettable! Thank you so much Mamta and Gautam!!!

Authentic food and more
Feb 2020
Nowadays travel is increasingly about experiences. This is a wonderful introduction into Rajasthani food and family life. Mamta and Gautam are super nice, allow you to have a hands-on experience, make and puff your own naan, fry spices etc., and provide clear instructions in English. The house is situated next to the river and it also gives you the feel for how people live and cook authentically. Highly recommended!

Best family activity in our 9 day India trip!
Dec 2019
My family of four (2 older kids) did the Super deluxe menu and it was a great experience. Our kids ended up doing all the cooking and they were aided by Mamta and her son, who took great care of the kids and taught them proper cooking techniques. The Pakora (I think of it as Indian tempura) was the kids' favorite and we were all amazed by the Chapati puffing up when it was cooked directly over the flame. We decided to do the dinner, which started at 5PM and conflicted with the last evening boat ride in Lake Pichola, so if you staying for one night only, you may want to do the lunch instead to enjoy both the cooking class and the evening boat cruise. Udaipur was our last city before we headed home and the cooking class was a nice way for our family to get together, slow down and relax after days of hectic traveling. I hope you will enjoy the class too!
