About
Since 2005, Akshay and his family have been working to improve the tourist experience in Udaipur. Akshay started out by running City Palace tours in his early 20s, then saved up enough money to start restoring his family’s historic Haveli into the Little Garden Guesthouse, which is now one the most popular places to stay in Udaipur. With demand growing for his expert services, Akshay has built a team of experienced local guides who help him run Udaipur Walking Tours. Our team speaks English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, and of course Hindi, Marwari and a host of other Indian languages. Join us for a most unique Udaipur experience!

We stayed in Little Garden Guest House in Udaipur with friends and were happy to take the inexpensive Vintage Walking Tour offered by Akshay the owner of the Haveli. Our tour began at 6am and included a guided walk through the streets of old town Udaipur and then a hike up the mountain to look at the sunrise then a slow stroll back in time for breakfast around 8:30/9. The whole feel of the early morning in Udaipur was so different from the day and night we had already experienced. It was so special to watch the cows lumbering around without traffic and food cart owners busily preparing for the day. Watching the town slowly come to life was amazing and having a hot chai with workers on their way to work was a real privilege. Akshay is such an engaging character and brings the stories and history of Udaipur and Hinduism to life along the way all the while answering questions and relating the information to the present day India. I found this tour fascinating and consider it a highlight of our time in India. Thank you Akshay.

We hired the Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh Fort tour harnessing our days in Udaipur and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of our whole trip in India! To begin with, the driver drove safely and cautiously (unlike other experiences in the country) and took us to a restaurant that was fairly priced, clean and very tasty in the middle of the countryside where we wouldn’t have known where to go for lunch. The tour allows the possibility to hire a guide but we did not take it. The visit to the temple was certainly my favourite experience of our whole trip, it’s jaw dropping, and includes a mandatory audio guide for foreigners. The Kumbhalgarh Fort is very big and, even if not as shocking as the temple, it’s worth a visit since it’s the second largest wall of the world. Certainly recommended!
They have many more tours that we would’ve loved to try if we’ve had more time in Udaipur.

Did the Comprehensive Udaipur and Cycle Tour and would highly recommend both. Guide Pradeep was very knowledgeable, entertaining and insightful about all the historical sites and Udaipur in general. The Cycling tour was especially worthwhile as we got out of the city and into the countryside to see the hills and another lake. Owner Akshay is also helping to keep the monuments and areas around the city clean through a volunteer rubbish collecting group. Definitely do a tour with Vintage if you’re visiting Udaipur!

My wife and I had an amazing tour with Akshay. While most guides stick to the palaces and “tourist” areas, which Akshay certainly showed us and had great knowledge of, he also showed us the parts of Udaipur that I feel many tourists do not see. Via a walking tour of the old city, we saw beautiful architecture, ate some local street food (which Akshay guided us through to ensure we ate only things that were safe for tourists), and enjoyed the best Chai in the city.
Akshay took us to some places for shopping at our request but was not pushy or urging us to buy anything, which many guides do.
I would recommend Akshay as a guide to anyone who wants a more authentic experience. Also, it must be noted that his English is impeccable!

Akshay kindly arranged for Pradeep to give us a tour of the palace and Udaipur. We had a great time. Pradeep or PB was particularly knowledgeable on all the best places for good photos. His English was good without a strong accent. He even came back the following day to show us where to get a boat from to view the Lake at sunset. This boat was much quieter than others which allowed us to freely move around. Akshay and PB also took us to an excellent tailor where we had some clothes made. The quality of these garments can't be faulted. Would thoroughly recommend

My wife and I spent 2 full days with Pradeep exploring Udaipur's old city markets, temples and museums. It was an extremely enriching experience.
Pradeep's historical knowledge is impressive, and he spent a lot of time answering many of our questions on culture, architecture, cuisine and Hinduism.
We are incredibly appreciative of having been able to partake into the local street food experience as well - all insanely tasty and hygienic.
We highly recommend Vintage Walking Tours to anyone that is visiting Udaipur!

We hired Akshay as a palace guide and were so impressed with him that we hired him again the next day to do a full day history, food and shopping tour. He was excellent!! Since he is from Udaipur his knowledge of the hidden gems of the city is endless.
He is super courteous, patient and kind.

We had a nice time discovering Udaipur lakes and countryside by bicycle. It’s nice to see a part of the city that’s completely different, the rural areas, the villages slowly waking up at 7am
Keep in mind that you need to have a good physical condition, as the road is not flat and there are some serious hills. And also, wear clothes that can be dirty as the roads are muddy.

We did a great walking tour with Akshay through the city palace. He is very knowledgeable and his English is very good. So his information was easy to understand and very interesting. If you are lucky he might even show you a few local experiences in Udaipur as well like going to a local restaurant for amazing street food!

Our tour with Akshay through the Palace and art gallery was wonderful. He has so much knowledge of Udaipur culture, art & history it really made our stay and the small group meant it was easy to listen and ask questions. Thanks Akshay.
