Rajsamand Lake in Rajasthan was a delightful surprise. This massive lake features beautiful marble steps. Tourists enjoy the peaceful scenery and take boat rides to appreciate its grandeur and lush surroundings fully. The Raj-Prashasti viewpoint atop the dam holds the world's longest and largest stone inscription in Sanskrit. It's etched on 25 black marble slabs, recounting the history of Mewar.

While going to Delhi from Kumbhalgarh in the early morning we stop at Rajsamand Lake, at 47km distance. We reached here at 6:45am. Few people were there enjoying the cool breeze and beautiful views of the lake. We spend some time walking and clicking pictures there. Rajsamand Lake was built by Maharana Raj Singh in 1660. The lake stretches to the length of 6.4km and 2.8km in width having the approximate depth of 18.25 meter. We drop at a canopy near Boating point. On the right hand side, the southern side of the lake, we saw the huge embankment, all made in white marble. The embankment has several marble terraces and stone steps that goes down and touches the lake water. Five “toranas” (weighing arches) are there where Maharana Raj Singh and his descendants organized the event of Tuladan (Kings used to weigh themselves in gold and then distributed it amongst the Brahmans). The lake is 2km from the highway, so tourists going from there should drop and feel the beauty and calmness at the lake.

This lake is situated in Rajsamand district.
I took a government bus from Ekklinji Temple to this place. It is difficult to find an auto or any means of public transport that would drop you to the lake.
The lake is decent and you might not find it fancy after seeing udaipur lakes.

Less known historical place build by Rana Raj Singh. Lots of fishes are seen in lake. Surrounding is historical and cool place to visit. Must visit place if you are visiting Udaipur, Shrinathji and Kumbhalgarh.

Crossed this Lake on our way to Kumbhalgarh - its not very far from Kumbhalgarh and its a good stop over for a leisure walk around the Dam. Its a well maintained place. Its catchment area is more than 500 Square Kilometers. Its built using the Water of 3 different Rivers - Kelwa, Tali and Gomati, wherein Gomati is the main tributary.
