Built by Rana Kumbha, the Mammadev Temple is located right below the Kumbhalgarh Fort. Some up and down trekking from Fort is needed to visit the temple, in fact our guide didn’t accompany us during the Mammadev temple visit. The temple houses an idol of Lord Kuber, the god of wealth, and cenotaphs that were built in the memory of Rana Kumbha and Prithviraj Chauhan. There is also a lovely water reservoir next to the temple. A visit may be made, if time and energy permits post Fort visit.

Built by Rana Kumbha, the ruler of Mewar, in 1460, the Mammadev Temple is located below the Kumbhalgarh Fort. Originally, the shrine had four slabs and one could see the history of the kingdom of Mewar etched on one of the slabs. The inscription traces the history from the period of Guhil, who was the founder of Mewar, to the reign of Rana Kumbha, a great builder of forts and temples. The slabs are now well-persevered in the museum of Udaipur, 102 km away from Kumbhalgarh. The temple also houses an idol of Lord Kuber, the god of wealth, and two cenotaphs that were built in the memory of Rana Kumbha and Prithviraj Chauhan. A beautiful reservoir or kund located near the temple is also worth a visit.

Part of the Kumbhalgarh fort, the temple has a 6 feet tall Shivlinga that was worshiped by the maharanas. The hugeness of the statue depicts the structure and build of the maharanas. Surely a place to see in the fort.

here most of review posted is about Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple, Kumbhalgarh. But actually mammadev temple is different. Mammadev is guru of rana kumbha. Two cenotaphs(chhatris) are near the temple and it was built in memory of Rana Kumbha and Prithviraj Chauhan.

In this temple Lord Shiva situated in the form of 'Neel Kantha Mahadev' (as told by the priest to my 6 yrs old son on his curiosity). This is a very peaceful place to meditate and relax.
In this outer campus only, you will enjoy the 'light and sound show' in the evening.

Kumbha was a great builder besides being a mighty warrior. What awed us in the temple was the huge shiva linga (should be 6 feet tall), which, the locals say, was constructed keeping in mind Rana Kumbha's height when he sat down to worship.
