We had a great time learning to cook Indian food with Lavi, ably assisted by her husband. It was kind of a combined cooking class/demonstration, but we did get our hands dirty with chopping and stirring, and we learnt a lot from watching the experts too. Our kids (aged 10 and 12) had a great time too, apart from when Lavi kept telling them that now they know how to cook, they can cook for their parents when they get home (yeah, right 😊).
We cooked chai, pakoras, palak paneer, dal, chapatis and more – so much food we didn’t have a hope of eating it all, delicious though it was. Lavi also gave us a lot of useful information about ingredients, particularly the various spices we used, and tips to make our curries back home taste more authentic. She also emailed us recipes of all the dishes we’d learnt and many more.
A relaxed and enjoyable evening that I would thoroughly recommend to any family visiting Jodhpur – or anyone else who’d like to learn the secrets of Rajasthani cuisine.

This was a terrific experience! Lavi and her husband Sohel went above and beyond to make us feel at home! We made the finest local Indian cuisine with two people who had a great knowledge base and great sense of humor. I would highly recommend for anyone to do this, it is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours. Thank you so much Lavi and Sohel!

We messaged Lavi in the morning asking for a cooking class at lunch time , she was very flexible and quick to respond. Her husband came to pick us up and take her to their house. As well as learning how to cook some amazing Indian foods, with a menu tailored to our interests, we spend time getting to know Lavi and family which we really enjoyed. The good itself was amazing and Lavi is a great teacher, with impeccably good English.
Would highly recommend to everyone- amazing experience.

We had tried a cookery class previously on our India trip and it hadn’t lived up to expectations. I knew my wife would be disappointed if we didn’t do a proper class and luckily we found Lavi. She had so much knowledge and asked the day before what dishes we would like to learn and gave us a load of recipes to practice when we got home. She showed us how to make the different breads and curries that we would be able to recreate when we got back to the uk. We were highly involved in making the food and then got to enjoy it all after. Lavi and her husband made it such a nice experience it really was a highlight of my wife’s trip.

Lavi's cooking class made for a great day. On arrival we were asked to name the dishes that we were interested in making. The process behind each was then explained step-by-step. The results tasted amazing and the meal was followed up with a set of detailed typed recipes sent via email. Lavi and her staff were all very welcoming and the kitchen was a pleasure to train in. I'd certainly recommend this if you've a day to spare in Jodhpur and you enjoy making good food.

We had a great morning learning how to cook Indian food with Lavi and her husband Sohel. We loved how personalised the experience was . Lavi spoke with us before we started about what dishes/vegetables and spices we would like to make. We had done other cooking classes in other countries but this was unique and special as we were able to choose what we might like to make .We learned a lot ! Lavi and Sohel showed us how to make naan 😊 Parantha, chickpea curry , spiced okra ,aubergine and lassi . We had a delicious lunch out on the rooftop terrace.
Lavi kindly emailed me the recipes after the class so we look forward to making them at home again !
Lavi and other staff of the govind hotel were so helpful and accommodating to us . We arrived there before the class with our luggage as we had checked out from our guesthouse . They allowed us to stow our bags in their luggage room. Our bus wasn’t leaving until late afternoon so they also allowed us to rest in one of their guest rooms after the cooking class .
Thank you so much for a great cooking experience and such a warm welcome !!

Definitely a highlight of my trip to India, so much fun. Me and 2 friends learnt loads about dishes we had been enjoying so much on our trip: palak paneer, gobhi aloo, lentil dal, chapatti and more! Lavi is a great teacher and a lovely person.

We are on our honeymoon and found Lavi’s cooking class on tripadvisor.... one of the best things we have done in India so far! Lavi (and her husband Sohel) are so so friendly and genuine and really fun people to learn from. Lavi asked what we wanted to make (vege only) and we asked for Black Dahl and something with baby aubergine and we got this and so much more. Class was for 2 hours but we were there for 4 hours chatting to Lavi and eating SO MUCH food for lunch. You do the cooking in the kitchen of the family hotel and see how that operates too. It’s a family operation and a private class rather than a professional kitchen but this made it even more special for us and we would recommend to anyone! It’s not a tourist trap, Lavi does it for fun and it’s well priced. Just email her and she’ll get back very quickly too!

We are really happy that we found this private cooking class! We talked about almost every spice that we will use before the cooking, so you really will learn how to use them. And we just shown her some pics of the food that we wanna learn, Lavi really taught us what we want! Really amazing! Go for it if you like indian food!

Thank you for coming and learning cooking, our Indian style. We have lots of spices in India which are used not only for food but also in medicines. Every dish we make, we add spice to give it the best taste. I am a house wife and this is my hobby. Thanks, lavi.
