Wonderful and exquisite collection of art work by students and professors. Themes range from life of royals to epic narratives, painted on paper, synthetic ivory, leaves and old papers. All beautifully displayed in the gallery. A must visit if you are in Jodhpur. The paintings make for great gifts and souvenirs.

The art class here is an amazing experience. I have never painted before , but there was patient guide at hand. The galley is one of the most extensive ones around.

I had a great experience meeting Vijay , Pintu and Tinku who were all very kind ,humble and helpful. Vijay takes time with you to teach you all you need to know to create a piece of art work that you can bring home with you as a memory of Rajhastan. Also you can admire the Art work in the school and are under no obligation to purchase and there is no pressure to do so. Any paintings that you may purchase 70 percent of money goes to the artist and 30 present goes to the school. You can sit in the shade and relax while painting and you are given as much time as you need. A lovely way to relax and be creative with the support of Vijay Pinto and Tinku.

Very nice place. Step by and you will learn a lot about Rajasthani art. Besides miniatures and artwork they sell amazing natural hair painting brushes and natural minerals to make your own dye. Also they give free art lesons everyday.

What a nice moment we spent with the “lentil guy”, a well known miniature painting teacher in Jodhpur. He’s passionate and wants to offer his knowledge to most of people he meet so typical Indian art will follow future generations. He guided us for a 4h course (slow learners, it can be 2h). And it’s a FREE course.
He also have a huge collection of his students’ miniatures.
So if you’re interested, it’s the city to try, and this place to go !

The owner and manager of this art academy, Professor Vijay (nicknamed lentil man) is very kind, very talented, and very generous. He is Nick smed lentil man because he draws on a split lentil in front of your watchful eyes.
Professor Vijay, Mr. Lentil man is very gracious to his people and to the strangers who drop in from the street! He amazed me with his spirit. I don't know how to thank him for what he taught me! I feel honored by meeting this honest man from India. He teaches Indian traditional art for free to anyone who wants to learn it regardless of who the person is or where the person comes from. He gives free honest advice to his visitors. This makes many lying merchants and fake guides angry with him.
Mr. Vijaya started teaching traditional Indian art to females in his village who were kept home and were denied any form of education or skill. He travels to his village periodically to give these free art lessons to these otherwise would be illiterate women. Many of them became professional artists and because they could not leave the village, he volunteers to display and sell the female villagers art in his small and simple gallery. What an amazing man and amazing project.
If you happen to be in Jodhpur or near, visiting this place is a must! Don't expect a fancy place but expect to be amazed by the art you will see, the story he will tell you, and the knowledge you will gain. You will not be pressured to buy and there's no need to have or feel cheated!
