Amazing place to learn about Traditional Minature Painitings.
Lentil men is a very nice and talented person! Me and my friend learned how to draw an elephant step by step and we are so happy with the results! Thank you so much! I recommend this place to go! Besides joining the workshop, you can also buy one of his beautiful paintings.

    Highly recommend
I highly recommend Umaid Heritage Art School for anyone interested in art or looking to share a creative experience. We stumbled upon the school and had a delightful conversation with Vijay, so we decided to return the next day for a miniature painting workshop. We spent hours with Vijay, learning miniature painting techniques while exchanging captivating stories about art, culture, and life. Vijay's exceptional skills as an artist, combined with his teaching ability and storytelling talent, made the experience both educational and enjoyable. As a result, we left with our own miniature creations and a newfound appreciation for art. Our visit to Umaid Heritage Art School was undeniably a highlight of our stay in Jodhpur. Don't miss the opportunity to explore your artistic side and learn from the talented Vijay.

A genuine and charming art school!
Stumbled upon this small shop/art school when we wondered around in the city and got greeted warmly by Vijay aka Lentil Man. He proudly showed us his skills in miniature drawing on a lentil (hence his nickname). It was really impressive and it got us talking more about their art school, the skills of miniature painting and much more! Such a genuine talk and welcoming environment! I really recommend dropping by if you are into art!

Great time, beautiful detailed artist paintings
Amazing place. True, beautiful artist work. Most beautiful paintings we saw in Rajasthan, eve more beautiful than in the palace themselves ! We spent a great time with Vijay, a true master painter. Highly recommended.

    A fantastic learning experience
Checking out Umaid Heritage Art School and its comprehensive and beautiful library of Rajasthani miniature works was a fascinating experience. Interaction with Mr Vijay Prajapat on two separate days made my Jodhpur trip extra special and unforgettable. The free art lesson he offered over a span of 2 hrs along with seeking knowledge about various facets of miniature paintings was awesome. I wish Mr Vijay's mission all the success.

    Beautiful family experience
Amazing experience. The whole family loved it. Could have spent longer here, even with young kids. The teachers were engaging, helpful, patient and had great English. The children (and adults) enjoyed every minute. A quieter area of the city centre was a bonus too. A must do experience while in Jodhpur.

A unique gem, and peaceful oasis
We spent a fabulous afternoon at this lovely place. Tinku, Vijay and Pushkar were so generous with their time and expertise. In three hours we had all painted masterpieces 😄. Highly recommend, and there was no pressure to buy other pieces, although they were extremely beautiful and well priced. Also, they support female students from neighboring villages who aren’t allowed to leave the house to work - they teach them to paint and sell their work here. What a gem this place is! I am looking forward to coming back.

What a nice moment we spent with the “lentil guy”, a well known miniature painting teacher in Jodhpur. He’s passionate and wants to offer his knowledge to most of people he meet so typical Indian art will follow future generations. He guided us for a 4h course (slow learners, it can be 2h). And it’s a FREE course.
He also have a huge collection of his students’ miniatures.
So if you’re interested, it’s the city to try, and this place to go !

Amazing! One of the most wonderful Art experiences of my lifetime. Sometimes while traveling the universe aligns and blesses you with the chance to see one of the most beautiful things offered. We were wandering the clock tower market and didn’t expect to find a souvenir that will be the centerpiece to remember our trip to India! Don’t miss this while I’m Jodpur, we rode camels we rode elephants but seeing the “Lentil Man” do his thing in person was once in a lifetime!

Brilliant, Absolutely fabulous artwork, Vijay is such a nice man, he gave me a tour of the gallery showing me the art work that himself and the students had done.
Pinto, one of his students of over 10 years also gave an overview of his work.
Vijay invited me back to the gallery for lunch later in the week, along with his son, and pinto, at no time was I pressured into buying anything, infarct it was just the opposite, he gave my wife a lovely piece of work from his earlier years, I did in fact but 3 pieces of work, consisting of 3 peacocks done some 10 years ago, as a gift for my daughter.
Here is the gift he gave me to take back to the UK for my wife, I get a message from Vijay every week since my return, if anything I will remember the warm reception from Vijay and the family, if you have time, spend a few hours here, I stayed the whole day in conversation with Vijay and Pinto.

Wonderful and exquisite collection of art work by students and professors. Themes range from life of royals to epic narratives, painted on paper, synthetic ivory, leaves and old papers. All beautifully displayed in the gallery. A must visit if you are in Jodhpur. The paintings make for great gifts and souvenirs.

I had a great time at the Umaid Hertigate Art School. Vijay, the owner, (aka Mr Lentil man - know for being able to draw detailed art on a lentil) started the school to preserve the art techniques in the area. I had a fun experience trying my best to also create art using the same techniques and take home the finished piece (see in photo). Vijay, himself was very hospitable and made me feel very welcome and comfortable.

He also showed me some of the art his students had made, as well as many of his own. He is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about preserving the art form. Will definitely be visiting again if I’m in the area!

I was blown away by the wonderful morning I spent with Mr Vijay Prajapat, aka Lentil Man. I spent several hours learning all about the technique of Indian miniature painting and Vijay guided me through creating my own small piece. He is a clear and patient teacher and a fantastic artist. You only need to look up Lentil Man Jodhpur to find videos and photos of his work. His work is also for sale and adjoining the studio he has beautiful jewellery for sale too. I highly recommend this experience with Vijay at Umaid Heritage Art School, Jodhpur.

An amazing place to learn about the history and art of Radzastan. During amazing painting lessons you can learn about every detail - painting and life in India. It is also worth visiting this place to see the work of many local artists. The owner is a person with extraordinary knowledge and skills - both to develop art and win over people. A must-see on the list of the most important things to visit in Radzastan!

The best place in Jodhpur to see and learn about “miniature”, the 500 years art of Rajasthan. Vijay is an incredible artist. Very passionate, he will teach you a lot. You can buy small souvenir, as postcards, or beautiful work of art.
