Beautiful marble temple with a great audio guide (worth 100% the price)!

Just be sure to wrap up warm if you're visiting in December, because the marble is cold under your feet.

The Jain temple of Osian are one of the oldest Jain temples in India. They are made up of pure rock, red stone and black stone, and boast of some very intricate masonry and sculpture work. They are old but they stand strong. These temples provide us with the time of origin of Jainism and its magnanimity.

Good place to visit for Jains and those who are interested in historical relics.

Didn't get in , paid my money , yes I had on shorts ,cane male security guard said , as I had on shorts , I needed to go to the office and get something to cover up my legs , which I did . Went back , the female security officer said as I had on shorts , I had to take them off , even tho I had covered up my legs ... And as I had a camera bag , I had to pay 100 r . Well I pointed out ,ci had left the camera in the taxi , as it said no photos could be taken . In the end we walked away . I have never faced racism before , so it is new to me . We sat out side , having not gone in , and watched the same female staff , admit 3 separate Indian people , with shorts on . I will not let this one stupid person spoil my holiday . But will never go back there either

Made by the well to do Jain community, it is a living temple with daily prayers. The carvings and pillars around are made in marble and an outer walls are sandstone. They feature the the various enlightened souls in the Jain religion.

Paying tribute to the Thirthakars the Idol of Lord Mahavira here is more than 2000 years old as informed to us by the Pujar.i In Osian the temple of goddess Sachiyan Mata is more famous and in the byline opposite to it is this Jain temple.

It is on the way to desert safari. One has to walk in narrow streets to reach there. But the way they have preserved the place is commendable.
