- Laksha SMauritius122 contributionsMost beautiful fort in IndiaThe most beautiful fort I have visited in India (yes, I went to Jaipur as well). You get the heritage and royal vibes out there. The price for tourists should be revisited. The difference between local and tourists' is totally unfair. The heat and sun was unbearable during summer, which is understandable! We couldn't find the mandir, maybe directions should be labelled everywhere. Free shuttle should be availble from parking to main gate and from mehrangarh to jaswant thada.Visited April 2022Travelled with friendsWritten 20 December 2022
- Chander S225 contributionsMehra Garh Fort the jewel in the Rajasthan crown.Seated on top of a rocky hill, this 800 year old 14th century Center of newly founded Jodhpur by Rao Jodha, is a fine example of architecture, craft, art, and the Museum of the family effects, give the visitor a real taste of royalty of a foregone era of Mewar. A lift takes the visitors up. Sections showcase weapons, apparel, palanquins, miniature paintings, exquisite rooms, so beautifully made over 40 years of work- indeed each generation added to the forts floors and ramparts. The purple coloured roof tops of Jodhpur inhabitants surround the fort. Parking, guides, & cafe are on site as are toilets. Half a day outing is worth the effort. October to March are good times to visit this legacy of Rajasthan Mewar dynasties and their folklore. Must do attraction. Light winter clothes, soft shoes, and water bottle are recommended. Camera and mobile are allowed. Fees are $ 3-5 total per foreign tourist. Guide costs less than $ 10.Visited December 2022Travelled with friendsWritten 21 December 2022
- ian mLeeds, United Kingdom651 contributionsOne of the best presented monuments we visited. This is a very well preserved monument and presented to good effect. The queue for the lift was such that we decided that our only option was to walk up the long ramp rather than waste time standing around in line. Nice place with great views over the town but be aware that the guards are very keen to close on time and start hustling people towards the exits as soon as they can. Go early, take your time, there's a lot to see.Visited October 2022Written 27 December 2022
- eztravel394India19 contributionsWell maintainedA very well maintained fort and palace. There are detailed descriptions in both Hindi and English and hence you can choose to go without a guide if you want. We visited once with a guide and again without a guide to do it at our own pace. Cafe is available inside but overpriced as to be expected. One star less because the shops that sell handicrafts ripped us off. We wanted a fixed price shop without bargaining but the price we paid was more than two times what we found in other fixed price shops in Jaipur. We bought there because the guide said it is run by the museum trust.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 1 January 2023
- Nandita GNew Delhi, India62 contributionsAmazing experienceVisited the fort on the last day of the year. The fort is beautiful and very well maintained. There was a lot of crowd but the lines for the tickets and guides were moving fast. The walk in the fort is long so wear comfortable shoes and have your camera ready as the views and the interiors of the fort both are great. There are cafe where you can stop for a quick bite on your way up or down from the fort. The Mehrangarh trust runs a shop where you can pick up gifts for family and self. The staff is very courteous and our guide was excellent and he made the experience amazing………a must visit if you are in JodhpurVisited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 1 January 2023
- Rakesh_MittalGurugram (Gurgaon), India191 contributionsGood Time SpentVisited this during our Rajasthan Trip, easily 2-3 Hr can be spent here by clicking photos and seeing a lot of historical stuff. Parking is available and they do have a café inside the fort which. There is shop inside the fort and we bought sandal wood perfumes from there which was good.Visited December 2022Written 3 January 2023
- GiriJoshiLondon, United Kingdom105 contributionsLovely place to visit for a dayThe fort is excellent. It has lots of views. The architecture is astounding. The sunset at the fort is mesmerising. There is a fee to be paid to use lifts. But it's worth it. While in lift you will feel how high we are going. Take lots of pictures and videos for insta.Visited December 2022Written 13 January 2023
- Pipsa850Oulu, Finland100 contributionsGreat value of the moneyThis fort offers lots to explore. There were different type of exhibits, wonderful rooms to showcase past time luxury and lots of info about history. Eating or refreshmets was sold different parts of the fort so stopping and relaxing with food or drink was easily to enjoy. You can also pick up a souvenirs there if you want to have memoriam of your visit. I end up having stuffed colorful horse from the little stand from project shakti. They had good cause of helping womans in rural areas. What an great cause! There was an elevator up if you fon't feel like walking up and guide services available. We skipped thst one since we wanted to explore in our own phase.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 January 2023
- AnjanMandaHyderabad, India2,031 contributionsimpressive fortThe fort on a rocky hill, one of the best preserved forts and museums in India, was built by Rajput ruler Rao Jodha. It derives the name from sanskrit word Mihir, meaning sun, hence also called Fort of the Sun . Places of interest in the fort are period rooms : Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Takhat Vilas, Sardar Vilas, Jhanki Mahal, Dipak Mahal, Moti Mahal. Not to be missed are Howdah Gallery, Palanquin Gallery, Daulat Khana, Painting Gallery, Textile Gallery and Arms Gallery. The intricate carvings on the walls of the fort, the sprawling courtyards are beautiful. The fort is very popular tourist destination.Visited December 2022Written 9 February 2023
- Kalpit0302Gurugram (Gurgaon), India177 contributionsBig FortThe fort is symbol of Jodhpur. Here you will have to walk a lot and climb some stairs too. Lift i available to go up, but it was not working when we visited there. For Firefox ziplining, you have to call them in advance. The cafe is the fort has good snacks options. There is souvenir shop also in the fort. Hiring a guide is recommended here.Visited February 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 February 2023

must visit place of Jodhpur. It’s astonishingly beautiful. The fort is awesome and speaks about its golden time. You need atleast 3 hours to cover all the major points. Lots of things to see here. The ticket price is 200/- per person. Totally worth the price.
The carvings made on the jodhpuri stone are simply mind-blowing. The jharokhaa for queens, meeting halls, kings bedroom, small museum are worth to watch.
At the backyard there is garden, temple and lots of canons are placed there. You can enjoy the blue city view from the top of the fort.
Please do take a guide, the guide provides good history about the fort. The guides are government certified.

The fort is located on the hilltop. It has an elevator which may be used for a fee. A blessing for those who can’t climb up. …
It has a winding approach with several gates having nails embedded into the wood to prevent the enemy from using elephants to break open the gates forcefully. The loha gate has several handprints of Maharana’s 15 wives which they left before committing Jauhar.
The foundation of the fort was laid by Rao Jodha in 1459. Thereafter it was constructed in phases over 500 years.
It has several magnificent sections like sheesh mahal, phool mahal, moti mahal, zanana mahal etc.It also houses the Chamunda devi temple where the Rajput kings prayed before leaving for war.
The panoramic view of the blue city from the fort is simply amazing. Truly worth a visit….

The fort dominates the city with its imposing walls. Inside you will find the museum mainly dedicated to beautiful miniatures but above all you will have beautiful glimpses of the blue city that lies at the foot of the fort.

I was born and raised in India but moved to the US in 1981. Every time I visit India I try to see a place I have never been to. This time it was Jodhpur, Rajasthan. I thought, I know the language and so maybe I don’t need a guide. I am so glad I decide to engage Dr. Jeetender Singh. Without him it would Not have been the experience it turned out to be. From getting entrance tickets, jumping queues, spots to get great views and his knowledge of the art work in the Museum made the whole experience. Without out him we would have probably spent the entire day just getting to see the Fort and nothing else. We were able to go and see a few different sites. Use Dr. Singh. You won’t regret it.

Our visit to Mehrangarh Fort was incredible. We saw a lot of ancient stuff and learned many cool stories from the past. Plus, the views from the top were amazing!
We had Dr. Jeetendar Singh as our guide. Being a professor, his knowledge and trivia related to the fort brought the fort's history to life, making our visit even more captivating.

Mehrangarh fort is worth a visit in Rajasthan. One gets to see the architectural splendour of the Rajput kings and the wealth and grandeur of India’s past. We had got the service of and excellent guide Dr Jeetendra Singh who was adept with the details and gave you scientific explanations rather than just hearsay. It was a wonderful experience

Fort is truly magnificent in imagination, execution, foresightedness of erstwhile rulers.
Takes about 1-2hrs to do justice to one’s trip to Jodhpur. But for this attraction there’s really nothing worth one’s time in Jodhpur.
Wish more wheel chair facilities, personnel to attend to differently abled and senior citizens exist.
Ticket counter can be better organised. Usual swarming of guides soliciting the business, hangs around the counters.
Cost effective cafe would be better in the premises.
Prepaid Tuk Tuk counters and cab counters would be required.
Overall, the only reason to visit Jodhpur.

lift is available for one side i.e. for going upside . But as it is fort i will not advice to visit the fort by wheel chair because inside it is very narrow inside and not that much liking. The beauty of fort lies outside only.they can view from outside. the look of fort is amazing from outside.
