    Worth a quick look
Interesting to learn about the history of the palace and the people who built it and lived in it. Only 200inr per person for foreigners. You can only visit the museum and not the main hotel area. The gardens are immaculately maintained. Worth a quick visit.

    Royal residence
The Umaid Bhawan Museum is located in the southeast of the city, on a hill called Chittar. It is one of the largest royal residences in the world where the Maharajah of Jodhpur lives there with his family. Part of the building is dedicated to a luxury hotel while a wing is dedicated to the museum. The museum traces the history of the construction of the building which began in 1929 and ended in 1943. A part is also dedicated to the princely family of the 20th century and therefore the Singh family. You can see photos and videos of the interior of the palace as well as numerous objects such as watches, clocks (quite impressive as the shapes are incredible), Chinese porcelain, etc. You have to eat in one of the restaurants or sleep at the hotel if you want to be able to admire the dome, which is worth a look. Entrance costs INR 200 per person. Possibility of accessing it by car or tuktuk. Allow 1 hour of visit without forgetting to look at the collection of cars on display to the right.

    tick the box attraction
    1. kind of a tick the box attractions. Museum is pretty ordinary. We paid total 700 rupees for two (including a guide), which looked too much for what it offered. You can only visit the museum which is in three rooms of the palace along with a courtyard and a vintage car collection. Not near to the other attractions in Jodhpur so you need to set it aside as a specific plan. 2. Not much to walk. The ticket counter is right after entering the main gate. and the museum is another 100 meter ahead. So not much to walk and it is friendly for those with mobility issues except couple of steps here and there. But overall, i would say its nothing great unless you just want to boast that you have been there. 3. The palace is the royal residence for last more than 70 years so you are indeed visiting a house used by the royalty of Jodhpur. Other than that there is absolutely no wow factor here.

    A bit boring . . .
The most impressive part of this place is the exterior. The actual interior, and the displays, are a bit underwhelming. I normally like car museums, but here their display of automobiles was marred by having glass in front of the displays, which not only made photography difficult, but made even seeing the cars difficult. The art deco interior architecture in the main palace is interesting, however, and very different than what would be seen in most palaces in India. Overall, probably driving by and getting a shot of the exterior all that is needed. Only tour the museum if you are looking for something to do.

Good museum and small area of palace to visit
This is divided into parts for hotel and museum. We visited museum part. There is nominal entry fee. Having various items to be seen. Will end tour with souvenirs shop. Car museum is also worth viewing. Can have coffee or Kulfi(icecream) at entry point. Good to see this palace part at Jodhpur. Must visit once.

    Good 😊
Umaid Bhawan Palace Hotel is a magnificent blend of royal heritage and modern luxury, offering a truly regal experience. Set in the heart of Jodhpur, this stunning palace-turned-hotel exudes old-world charm with its exquisite Art Deco architecture and beautifully landscaped gardens. The rooms and suites are spacious, opulent, and thoughtfully designed, providing an atmosphere of calm and comfort. The service is exceptional, with every detail catered to with care and precision. Whether you’re enjoying a traditional Rajasthani meal, unwinding by the pool, or exploring the hotel’s rich history, Umaid Bhawan offers an unforgettable stay steeped in grandeur and elegance.

    Good not great
One the building was grand in size , two the kesar kulfi at canteen costing 40 Rs was great. There are 6 halls which has photos, furniture, cutlery . Collection of Clock and antique cars was good. It would be useful to take a guide along to add some more interest. Mostly Indian tourist were. It is maintained very clean. Good parking facility.

    A vignette of Jodhpur’s evolution
A small vignette of Jodhpur’s past. It is a quick 1 hr dash through the museum to get a a sense of the city’s evolution. I would recommend taking a guide especially as the prices are listed on the ticket board (so you don’t have to negotiate)

A small portion of majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur is turned into a museum, while other major parts have been turned into Luxurious Hotel and residence of royal family. Interestingly, the current royal family of Jodhpur still lives in the palace. Barring museum section, entry to other sections is barred for general tourists. There is an entry fee of Rs. 60 per pax for museum. The museum is well maintained and displays the antiques belonging to the maharajas and the royal family that includes cutleries. paintings, arms and ammunition etc. The complex also displays collection of vintage cars. The place also offers a closer view of the grand Umaid Bhawan Palace. At the entry point, small eateries are available for quick refreshments. A trip to the palace museum may be made to view the olden days o the maharajas and closure look at Umaid Bhawan.

Tourists/ visitors can enter this museum by entrance ticket during the visiting hours, which otherwise is a five star hotel which is open only for the room guests of the hotel. The museum is in a part of this palace with a large collections of royal items nicely displayed in glass cases. One should visit this museum to also have nice glimpse of the beautiful palace from the outside which is otherwise not open for local public and tourists

The Umaid Bhawan looks beautiful. The view around is worthwhile.

From the visitors perspective, we are only allowed to see 20% of the Bhawan, which is the museum and vintage car collection. Visitors are not allowed to stand around the area that has the hotel. Thus, visit experience comes down.

Overall, when in Jodhpur and if you have time, then you can visit Umaid Bhawan.

A number of interesting antique pieces and the building itself is interesting for its size and original purpose but, given the very small part that you can see as a non-guest, the entry price is excessive at 200₹ for foreigners.

The vintage car display is difficult to see behind glass even with hanging screens to block some of the light.

The "facilities" (toilets) are terrible.

Compared to Mehnagar fort , the Umed Bhavan fort and museum is too limited and frankly a waste of time.

If Mehnagar is main course then Umed Palace is like an appetizer.

You don't feel like it is value for money.

And, please don't have food in the first cafe after entry.

They serve pathetic pakodas and french fries.

Don't ever go there, I repeat don't ever go there !!
Wasted 1 hour of my life that I would never get back.
20 minutes away from the city, 200 roupies (around 2 euros) to enter, I know it's not too much but I would rather throw 2 euros in a garbage bin than give it to them.
The palace is huge but you can only visit 2 rooms thay look like any big room in any house full of pictures of the maharaja and his belongings (basically swords and clocks).
You are not allowed to visit any other part of the palace, not even the Gardens.
I still wonder what the palace looks like as we saw nothing of it.
Please don't waste your time here, and do any other activity in Jodhpur instead (e.g the fort, the stepwell, the old city, bishnoi villages )

Awesome residence - overwhelming really. The museum is just hum-drum but our guide, Arun, made it come alive and made is super interesting. Don’t skimp on the guide. The European art of scenes from the Ramayana is not to be missed. Nor the car collection in the barn area in the front.

Please set your expectations to NOT SEE much of the building as the private quarters and the hotel area are not accessible.

The palace is relatively new and there aren’t many areas within to look at. It’s also very crowded, and as such you’re likely to spend as much time waiting in line to buy your ticket as looking around. Lastly definitely not somewhere for people who are unsteady on their feet as the pushing is fairly forceful.

I decided to check this place out after visiting Mehrangarh Fort which was spectacular. Upon arrival, the guard at the gate told me that I couldn't use my "big lenses" inside the museum and asked me to get a small lens. I told him that it's an ultra wide lens and I couldn't just go and get a small lens. He still insisted and I decided to #thewave without entering the place. As I was waiting for my Uber, another guard at the gate shouted at me an motioned with his index finger (as if summoning a dog) to come back. I told him to FO and got in the Uber and left. Maybe it was for the best as my friends who visited it later said there is nothing to see besides some paintings. A major part of the Palace is not open to those not staying there.

BTW, icing on the cake - they apparently wanted a Rs. 6000+ per person cover charge, just to eat at their restaurant (since we weren't hotel guests). I've never heard of anything like this. Pathetic service and looks like the owner is trying to screw anyone that comes there by charging for anything and everything.

For dinner, I highly recommend the excellent garden restaurant, 'Kabab Corner' at Bal Samand Lake Palace. Fantastic food in a beautiful outdoor setting, reasonably priced.

Umaid Bhawan can take a hike.

I was having a layover at Jodhpur and had some time at my hand so decided you visit this place. The place is majestic with some prob given to Hotel Taj, a part of it is owned by the Raj still and a part of it is a museum. If history express you one must visit the museum. The entry fee is minimal but the museum is worth every penny. Overall an excellent visit will recommend it to one and all for sure.
