Amazing foresight and excellent planning by the Founders of the city in building this centre of old town.
Unfortunately there’s scant regard for hygiene, cleanliness. Most of the public space is occupied by ravenous mushrooming commercial establishments, street vendors, and grossly crass civic insensitivities coupled with sheer govt apathy.
Truly sad to experience this vibe, though a nice starting point to stroll around in busy old town market.

A landmark in the old city area, Ghanta Ghar or Clock Tower is a good spot for clicks and shopping in the areas around it.

Ghanta Ghar and adjacent Sardar Market is in the center of old Jodhpur. It is a busy area, mainly shopping for the locals. Good to walk for a while, get a feel for "real Jodhpur" and maybe pick up a souvenir.

One of the most crowded and badly maintained area of Jodhpur. The area around is a thoroughfare, badly in need of a smooth road or converting it into a walking zone only. Dozens of shops line the monument making in difficult to walk.

Landmark of Old Jodhpur, the Ghanta Ghar and Sardar Market.
Maharaja Sardar SinghGhanta Ghar or the Clock Tower is a prominent landmark in Jodhpur; it was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh between 1880 and 1911. More of a landmark in the market by the same name, it is more of an architectural delight.

The structure is good and can be seen from outside itself. If you walk inside, the terrace is not clean and maintained. The clock can be seen once as it uses old technology.
