We visited Yakub's small shop in Kankani next to the highway. Even though he was resting because of the sun since it was 4PM, he did us a demonstration of how he is making pottery without any electricity. He is actually making spin a huge wheel more than 200kg which will be spining for around 10mins which is enough time for him to make a jar !

I am a ceramic artist, and my wish was to experience throwing on a non-motorized wheel. I was able to try this at Yakub Pottery, and I had a little film as a souvenir for my social networks. I posted it on my Instagram joelle.swanet .
As a teacher of Ceramic Technology and Glaze Chemistry, the explanations on firing and clay are correct and interesting. This is definitely a place to visit if you are a ceramic lover - or a ceramic addict !

Great experience, we were able to try the pottery and block printing and watched traditional carpet making. Excellent English spoken, really personable guys and my grandchildren loved the bird water whistles we bought for them.
I’d highly recommend a visit.

I had the pleasure of meeting Razzak from whom I learned about Pottery, and then from his brother Nathu who showed me how Block printing is done. Their ancestors started this business and now they have carried the tradition. I had a great time with them.

We went during our trip in December and it was a great experience. The class super interesting and we got even to try to make the pottery ourselves. Recommend it!

Nice local artistry from a local family at Kankani village. This is the workshop, home and shop of the father, who has inherited his job from generations and taught it to his children, who have their workshop houses just nearby.

The owner is very nice and he let me try to throw on the big stone wheel. We also see the other artisans who make tissue printing and handmade carpets. Thank you so much my friend 🙏

It’s amazing how Razzak ji is carrying forward an age old family tradition. The artefacts he creates are wonderful and you can buy them! Definitely check out the ‘magic lamp’ he makes.
Next to his workshop is also a block-printing experience that you shouldn’t miss out on. They show and explain the whole process well. You can also buy some beautiful bedsheets from there.
