Our guide was erudite and interesting, and we learnt a lot on the tour. The pace was just right, the Rock Garden was amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed both Himanchu’s company and Old Jodphur’s architecture. His mother’s cooking was fab and we also enjoyed making chai and snacks. Which we thought might be touristy and rubbish but was fun and chatty. Himanchu is a natural disseminator and charming. The sweets we tried were delicious. Old Jodphur is very grubby so trainers required. The streets are narrow and two wheelers squeeze past. If the local Jodphur government reads this: organise the waste better in your jewel in Jodhpur’s crown. If Marrakesh can sort out their rubbish problem, you can do it in Jodphur.

The walk was a unique experience to explore Jodhpur, the ‘blue city.’ Himanshu, our guide, enriched our knowledge. The cherry on the cake was breakfast at his 375 yrs old house. Great city, warm people, rich history💙

It was a truly wonderful experience to take this tour with Blue city walks. It gave us a glimpse of the heritage of the old city part of Jodhpur. We would recommend this experience to other tourists.

When we reached the final Brahman home, climbed the stairs into the multi-story stone home built into the fort wall, took in the moonlit view of the entire city, and stepped downstairs for our home cooked meal, I suddenly remembered that I wasn't in a friends' home - I was experiencing something most people wouldn't ever experience. That's the authenticity of Blue City Walks.

The Walk Experts grew up in the Blue City, with many of them employed by Merangher Fort as guides. You can pick the tour, which has morning and evening start time. We started at the Rock Garden, where we learned about the local ecology before ascending down through what felt like a hidden natural tunnel to the back door of the fort to the Queen's private lake and bath. We then cut through another door and suddenly entered the Blue City.
Since the Walk Experts grew up in the fort, as you walk, you'll hear locals call out to them by name, ask after their day, and even hand them some nice little tokens in return for something or another.

The walk is 3 hours, but I found it quite easy. You are primarily walking through narrow streets of Jodphur with scooters and autos driving around you, so you do need to listen to the Walk Experts and look both ways before crossing the street. But don't worry - the Walk Experts set your expectations every step of the way. Plus, they want you to have an authentic experience, so as you see things or shops or people of interest, they are more than happy to stop with you- making every walk different.

Every stop is with somebody they know. They aren't any kickbacks. Nobody is trying to sell you anything. They are just trying to tell you about the Blue City so you can love it as much as they do. On our tour, we stopped by this hole in the second floor wall of a chai valla, who just makes chai because it makes him happy. He is a bit iconic in the city, but if you didn't know where he was, you'd never find him! We stopped by a local, popular sweet shop and found the line to eat our delicious treat. Then we made it to dinner at a Brahman's home, where you will have the most authentic, delicious Jodphur cuisine while sitting in an entirely Brahman Blue home in the wall of the Blue City. Head up to the roof with your chai and watch the sunset on the city and the stars highlight the end of your tour.

I've been wanting to take a Blue City Walk for 10 years. And I can say it's one of the best experiences I've had in my 10+ India visits.

We had a beautiful morning walk with Lakshimi!
She took us off the beaten path, and she guided through nature, history and architectural gems of Jodhpur with an enchanting way of speaking. We also loved that we could both talk about historical stuff as about lifestyle in india.
Do it! And if you can, do it with Lakshimi, girls power! :)

Italiano: bellissima passeggiata in posti dove non andreste mai senza una guida, se non l'avessimo fatta non avremmo apprezzato la città!

Bluecity’s evening walk was one of our favorite experiences in Rajasthan. The tour is fascinating, thorough, and well planned, while Laxmi’s enthusiasm for her city is absolutely contagious.

The walk was well curated by Sharon and Laxmi. Sharon did a great job in accommodating us in a very short span of time.
Laxmi was our guide, she took us through Roa Jodha Rock Garden explaining all details of flora and fauna along with the history of Park. Then she took us through water bodies of Fort and Finally the blue city tour. It ended with Snacks and Tea at a Brahmin's house.
Laxmi was excellent in detailing, patience in explaining and answering our queries.
I would highly recommend the walking tour and Laxmi as Guide.

My most memorable experience - blue city walk. This was organised by Sharon and our guide for the day was Laxmi. This guided walk takes you through the desert park, outskirts of the fort and into the blue city houses. The history that you learn throughout is unimaginable and Laxmi did a fabulous job! Ends with tea/coffee and snacks at a local's house terrace - and the view from there was to die for!
Every minute of this 2 hour experience was worth it! Must try!!

Loved the walk with Lakshmi. Lakshmi was super knowledgeable, kind, and courteous.

The walk was for about 2 and a half hours.

Started near the Mehrangarh fort and walked our way into the blue city. Finished our walk with a scrumptious meal from a chulah in a haveli.

I would highly recommend that you'll do the walking tour :)
