An artificial lake that was build 900 years ago to provide water to Jaisalmer. Because it has a number of ghats, chhatris and Hindu shrines, it is quiet picturesque. But I think nowadays it mainly serves as a gathering place for the locals, who enjoy boat rides in yellow swan and dragon boats. As an overseas traveler, I think there are better sites to visit in the area.

    An evening escape in Jaisalmer
An artificial lake in Jaisalmer that offers boating, light show in the evening and a local market nearby. The waiting time for the boats in quite long though. The tickets are also expensive.

They need to improve Musical fountain show
Gadisar Lake in Jaisalmer exudes historical charm with its ancient architecture and unique boat rides. The intricate chattris and temples add cultural richness, creating a captivating atmosphere. However, the lake can get crowded, affecting the peaceful ambiance, and maintenance of some structures could enhance the overall experience.

Awesome Tourist Point for Sunset Views
This is a picturesque lake in an otherwise barren desert landscape. The northern side has a monumental gate that seems to be the most popular spot, where there's boating trips. The gate itself is beautiful, sympathetic to the Rajasthani architecture of the city. After a quick visit on this side, I moved to the eastern side to get a better view of the sunset, which was awesome.

Think in advance if it's worthy to stop by here for few photos
I don't think that this stop is necessary or that it's that worthy. At the same time, it's one of the few things that you can do in Jaisalmer. Prepare for the fact that everyone local at the place is prepared for you. To get to the place, you need to pass something that looks like a market for tourists. In any case, if you come to the place, you will make few nice photos. The stop if worth about 15 minutes of your time.

A beautiful lake but as usual very crowded, one can do boating and watch the light and sound show in the evenings. Would have preferred if the place was bit clean and proper seating arrangements were made

I had the pleasure of having my guide take me to the lake and he shared the fascinating story about who built the gate and why, if you want a knowledgeable guide I highly recommend Dinish Jaisalmer guide @ +918824822626

Whatever the historical importance may be of this man made lake, the present day scene is that of total neglect and decay. The water is murky and at some points it stinks.
Tourists feeding the catfish leads to even more problems. The locals living alongside definitely contribute to its sad state by polluting regularly.
A disappointing experience, therefore not recommended. You won't miss a thing if you didn't go there.
