Jai Shankar Handicrafts in majestic Rajasthan showcases Thar Desert Antique Embroidery and Textiles. The embroideries in this region of Rajasthan are impressive. Traditional wedding dresses, opium bags, and dowery bags come from desert villages and are sewn together as patch work wall hangings, bed covers and many other things by local people. The owner, Shankar Khatri, has a Diploma in Culture and Tourism and a passion for arts, so he also creates custom, one-of-a-kind designs.

The young man who was touting for this place was brilliant! It’s a family business and he sold it well…apparently his Dad is in marketing and it explains the fun signs that drew me into the place. So I ended buying a little something just because the young guy was so great. He has a big future in sales,well done!

Absolutely incredible experience buying clothes here. We wanted to get some classic India threads for our backpacking trip across India and the owner and staff here were so amazing helping us out trying lots of clothes very relaxed and brought us chai and a samosa. They then helped us later that evening stylize our Rickshaw with some curtains. Highly recommend!

Has a really big selection of beautiful textiles! Lots of antiques as-well as new designs, really reasonable price and great service- happy to talk about prices!

This shop is full of beautiful vintage Indian textiles pieces!! The owners were very friendly and happy to talk to us about the pieces and techniques!

So i rented his activa from jaisalmer visited kuldhara, sam desert, khuri and local places. He charged very reasonable price, also gave me a new activa which was well in shape.

had the opportunity to rent a Enfield Thunderbird bike as well as buy some locally embroidered cloth and bandhni Sarees. I was looking for an Royal Enfield Thunderbird and he seemed to have the only one near Fort area. That to in almost mint condition. It was a newer 350x. Rented the bike for 3 days. Hassle-free experience. The entire experience was a breeze as just with a phone call he came to deliver the bike at the Hotel and got the paper work done at his shop. While returning the bike back to his shop I had the opportunity to buy some locally embroidered wall hangings and Sarees. What I liked about him was that he was totally non pushy and had reasonable prices along with some great choices. Moreover he sat with us to tell us his story and offered us tea. I definitely would reccomend his shop for local clothing as well as renting out the bike.
