Tilon was the courtesan in King's Court, its a temple of Lord Krishna. A gate to view the iconic Gadisar lake, the only water resource of the whole city.

This 14th-century gateway straddles the road down to Gadisar lake, it is said to have been built by a famous prostitute.. When she offered to pay to have it constructed, the Maharaja refused permission as he would have to pass under it to go down to the lake, which was beneath his dignity. Whilst he was away, she built the gate and added a Krishna temple on top so it could not be taken down.

Lots of street stalls around here, selling turbans, jewelry, etc, very colourful and busy.

This is the Gate or Pol..one need to go through to reach the banks of the Gadisar lake..
This t arched gateway is made of yellow sandstone, and has intricately carved windows and chhatris...the carving on yellow sandstones amazes, the wooden window pattern also attractive... It also has a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna adjoining the pol...the tickect counter for boating is just adjacent to this gate ..

The Market of Traditional Rajasthanu handicrafts here is an additional attraction..

Gadisar Lake has several gateways that are made of the golden sandstones. One of the prominent gateways was built by a courtesan named ‘Tilon’ and is called ‘Tilon Ki Pol’ which means Gate of Tilon. Tilon dedicated this structure to Lord Satyanarayan by placing a statue of Lord Vishnu much against the wishes of the king. Despite several attempts to remove the shrine but the shrine still survives. It is gateway to the Gadisar lake manmade reservoir in Jaisalmer. It was constructed by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the first ruler of Jaisalmer. In the later years Maharaja Garisisar Singh rebuilt and revamped the lake. Artistically carved Chattris, Temples, Shrines and Ghats surround the banks of Gadisar Lake Jaisalmer.Te place has many birds and bats. the central island has beautiful ducks. You can take aboat tour of the place. There is an entrance ticket of the lake. Must-Visit.

It is a two storied entrance gate to Gadisar Lake. The architecture of this gate is quite beautiful. Previously this gate was used by saints and visitors coming from far away places. If you have planned boating in Gadisar lake then you have to cross this gate.

Tilon Ki Pol is an elegant 2 storied yellow sandstone gateway to Gadisar Lake. Interesting story is associated with the gate. The gate was built by a famous courtesan called Tilon. However the royal family raised objection and were not ready to pass through the gate built by a prostitute while accessing the lake. To avoid demolition, a Vishnu shrine was placed above the gate. One has to pass through the gate to access the Gadisar lake. The gate provides good photo ops. Also spotted local artist playing folk music with the help of Rajasthani instrument.
