I can't speak highly enough about the professionalism and service of Alternative Tours. I contacted Ashish on short notice at peak season for a solo tour. He immediately got back to me and squeezed me in! Guides and drivers were excellent, particularly the tribal guide with 18 years experience and very close ties to the tribes. I extended my itinerary toward the end of the trip, and they were again very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend Alternative Tours for Odisha, as this was a most memorable trip.

3 females spent 6 days on a tour of villages in Odisha to see ikat weaving ,tribal villages , some temples , painting villages and an Applique village. the driver Kalia was great , spoke English and cleaned the car each day, and introduced us to some fabulous friendly people along the way, there was no pressure to buy at these places .Hotels were all good, scenery so green and splendid, forests in mountains ,rice fields, waterways ,and always good eating stops for fantastic Odisha food.Temperature was perfect ,25-28c, take hat and old shoes. Will travel again with Alternative tours, thanks Ashish.

I along with my two friends had gone to Ladakh in the month of August. The entire tour had been organised by Alternative Tours and the way they had organised the tour is superb. I had no idea regarding Ladakh and starting from hotel selection to hiring bikes the operator especially Me Asis Mishra the owner was quite a professional. We reached Leh around 11.00 am as most flights arrive in Leh in morning only. To my surprise the flight captain announced that we are flying over Manali and Rohatang Pass and I could see clearly the glaciers of Rohatang Pass which I recorded in my mobile. The hotel we stayed is Royal Ladakh. Though it not a star hotel but is a very good hotel considering the service and the facilities. The downside is its location as it is situated bit far from the market and the road bit narrow. So you should walk to the market or should have your own vehicle. However I liked the location. Mr Mehraj the owner was present in the hotel and he attends to any kind of problem. So be sure you wouldn’t face any problems. The tour operator had meticulously planned every bit of journey. After staying at Hotel for two days which one should do to acclimatise we left for Hunder a distance of 170 km by bike, the Bullet. We had crossed Khardungla at a height of 18300 feet and the scenic beauty on the way to Hunder can’t be described in words and one has to see it to believe. God Budhadev resides there as Budhism is the majority religion. It a region full of pristine beauty and you stand in any place and it is a beauty. I liked the Hunder desert which is very beautiful. The main attraction are the sand dunes and double-hump camels also known as Bactrian camels. One would be surprised to see a huge desert at such high altitude. We stayed at a tent and the facilities were basic as it a far off place and business is purely seasonal. But I enjoyed the stay. On way back to Leh we visited Diskit monastery and the 100 feet tall Budha statue which is a beauty. The place around the statue is scenic and I was amazed to see the place. We took a day rest after reaching Leh. The Alternative Tours organised organised Pangong lake tour next day and it is a difficult tour considering the road conditions and altitude. We have to cross Chang La Pass which is at 17,590 feet. The greatest thing is Operator had organised one new Bullet which I had been riding but due to lack of oxygen the pick up was at less than 50%. So it had created while I was cruising. We stayed at Pangong lake in a tent and the night temperature dropped to 4/5 and in the night it rained so take sufficient woollens to ward off cold. The next day we drove to Leh and we reached Leh around 3 pm. We stayed in the same hotel Royal Ladakh and in the same suite room which we all three shared. We went to the main market and purchased some local silver ornaments and shawl. My friend purchased one bangle which is made of silver and decorated with precious stones like emerald which is highly appreciated. Next day we had flight in morning for Delhi. One tip if you ate riding a bike never open your helmet visor while driving as the chilled wind might lead you into cold and fever. In short Ladakh is a feast for the eyes of the travellers and it is a paradise for the photographers if you are a photographer. Last but not the least is the professionalism by Alternative Tours without whom we could’ve done the trip. Hats off to them.
