7th century Shailodhbhava temple. Adjoins the Mukteshwara temple. Temple was locked by a panda so we couldn't get to experience the lighting effect of the eaves. Saptamatrikas on the side opposite the entrance are really well carved. Carvings are very natural. Shivling on north side has miniatures carved on it, possibly representing the Shailodhbavas. This lovely national monument should be accessible to all. Better visited as part of a Heritage Walk to avoid confrontations with self-styled enforcers.

Dont miss this lesser known temple if you are a tourist in Bubaneswar. A 7th Century ASI protected monument, it is a "live" Siva temple with a priest or two. But absolutely peaceful and no crowds. Very sublime experience.

The Mukteshwar, Kedar Gouri and Parushurama temples are located close to each other.
The temple is one of the few temples of Parasurama in the country.
A good place to visit

This is a little more than 1 km from Lingaraja Temple. This is the oldest Temple at Bhubaneshwar, dates back to 7th century. A beautiful temple worth visiting with beautiful carvings and equisitive architecture and images on the temple walls.
In the Court yard stands a tall Siva Linga decorated with scores of miniature Lingam in relics. The Deity here is Harihara.
A small and clean garden backside with a compound and a gateway leads to Siddheswara and Mukteswara Temples.
Parking facility is available. It is maintained be ASI.

Parasurameswara temple is quite small but very interesting. It is one of the oldest temples people can see in Bhubaneshwar and it is still active (active temples are actually easy to spot in Orissa as they have a floating flag on their top; below the flag is a symbol that always indicates you to which deity the temple is dedicated).
As many temples in the area this one is dedicated to Shiva, though Parasuram is actually an avatar of Vishnu. Among many other stories Parasuram at some point decides to do devout austerities to please Shiva. Shiva indeed very impressed asks him to choose a divine weapon and Parasuram chooses the axe. I had never seen a Parasuram temple before, so it was a good occasion to refresh memories and inform myself further about him.
Other details not to be missed in this temple: the Saptamatrikas (seven divine mothers) sculpted on the left side. If you are not a Hindu do read about them before and / or get information from a guide to really understand why their presence is special and interesting and to prevent from mistaking them as part of the 64 yoginis you can see in Hirapur temple!
Do check the lingam outside on the left made of a thousand small lingams as well. You will see the same kind in other Odishan temples, but I am not sure you can see the same in other States.
There is no entrance fee for this temple for tourists, but though nobody will bug you much in Brahmeshwara and Mukteswara temples, in Parasurameswara temple you will be strongly requested to make a donation. The pandit inside will hand you a notebook displaying marvelous donations given by previous visitors, just give what you feel like giving, no need to consider what others are supposed to have given before you...

It's the beautiful temple, next to to Rajarani Temple, so you can visit them together. The arch covered with sculptures is really impressive and you can find it in most of guidebooks.
