On the Pirangut-Lavasa road, while going to Lavasa from Pune, lies a nice scenic spot where most tourists stop and take pictures either of the greenery surrounding it,or unending 'selfies' with the imposing dam as the backdrop
Plenty of youngsters can be seen with their two wheelers as well as partners either taking pictures,or playing in the rivulets below or having corn cobs on either side of the road. On the day we went to Lavasa from Pune, weather was extremely good. It was overcast but windy . We stopped our car and got down,as nearly everyone does.
Be careful as this road has fairly heavy traffic. The dam is a long one,but average in size compared to other famous dams of the Nation. It holds water on the other side, which supplies water to Pune city,as was told by our driver. The dam had quite a few holes, through which water was gushing out. Check my pictures as well as a video of Temghar dam, uploaded here on TA
While going to Lavasa, half n hour is more than enough time to spend here. Or you may just come here to do picnic with your friends,in which case you will obviously need more time. This attraction is incredibly popular with locals of all age group

This dam is scary in the rainy season, it feels like its gonna fall. I have seen some hollywood movies where the Dams gets broken lots and lots of water came and everything gets underwater, I had imagined the same when I was on-road driving towards Lavasa. I increased my car speed to be saved by this.
The place is lit, this dam is not very big, but it looks huge. water level is too high nowadays guys, be safe

Temghar Dam is one of the four dams that supply water to Pune city and is located on the Pirangut-Lavasa Road. It is a nice picnic spot, especially during the monsoon season. The dam has leakages at a couple of places along its wall and thus one can see water gushing from there. People (especially youngsters) prefer to spot here for a while and have some local snacks which are sold by roadside vendors. A decent place for a short 20-20 minute halt!

Temghar is a stunning, earth-fill and gravity dam of around 1 km span across River Mutha, flowing right into Pune City. The dam and approach road leading to Temghar and further to the famous man-made hill station, Lavasa presents a nice drive across many small and serene villages.
At a little distance of less than one hour from Pune, Temghar presents a nice weekend breakaway option. There are few little options of small hotels with tents, rooms and bungalow. A stay in any one of the places, away from high profile Lavasa can be as refreshing as fresh air in a non-concrete environ.
A walk down the river bed on an early morning or a late evening is a real bonus. The recommended time for a visit to this place is early monsoon and just after monsoon.
A trip with family are friends compiling a larger group can add to the fun.

I went to Temghar Dam. Temghar Dam is a massive dam built on the river Muthu 40 kms from Pune. A major source of water supply to the city, the dam also offers an enticing panoramic view of the Temghar reservoir and the city. It is great place to go.

If you are travelling to Lavasa from Pune, you will meet this giant structure as you pass from the footsteps of the dam which looks gigantic. The place gives a great look where man-made Marvel's meets nature.

Though its not a seperately worth place to visit but you will find it on the way to Lavasa just before starting of Dasve ghat section.
You are not permitted to go to the top of the dam.
