This golf course has the most compelling views. A challenging 7100 Yards par 72 Floodlit Championship Golf course it's every avid golfer's dream come true. The 18 Hole day & night floodlit Championship Golf Course spread over 256 acres nestled in a pristine valley is surrounded by the lofty wind carved Sayadri mountain peaks. The par 5's are long and challenging and on many holes if one hits their tee shot short, then the ball is swallowed by the dense jungle foliage. The green fees are steep for the average Indian course at about $75 for a round but it includes a experienced caddy and the buggy. Lots of rare birds and some wild animals have made their appearance during our game. There is a quaint clubhouse with a British themed pub to enjoy a pint of Indian pale ale or beer at the end of a enjoyable round of golf.

We visited this golf course in March 2012 and were a 4-ball. Bookings were made by us in advance.

Arrival:
The drive into Aamby Valley is gorgeous with some great sights. When we arrived at the clubhouse we were greeted by the staff and they immediately took care of our clubs and were attentive to our needs. The locker rooms and bathrooms are very clean and one of the best I have seen. Pro shop is a good one.

Driving Range:
The driving range is excellent and in great shape. It is flat with well defined markers and bunkers. Range balls were in good condition. Range is surrounded by hills and is very scenic.

Course:
The course is in excellent condition and maintained very well. It has character and is not easy to play.. You have to plan your shots well and course management will be rewarded. It is more designed for accuracy. Bunkers are well maintained and some of them are very deep. We were the only people on the course on a weekday and apparently over the weekends only 20-25 people play. Caddies were great and helpful.

Overall a fantastic experience. Will definitely visit again.

Tips:
1. Get extra balls: because of the design of the course, be prepared to lose some balls if you are a high handicapper.
2. Visit the bar at clubhouse as it has a great view
3. Ask for the 50% discount at the bar (Tavern) as you are eligible after having a round of golf.

I happen to be there accidentally but was amazed to see a world class Gold Course. Aamby valley has limited access so I actually had to find a way to dig around a way to be there.
But the place is nicely crafted. Totally lush green fields make it a pleasure to be in the location.
The staff is pretty helpful and nice. The best time to be there is between October and January. Summers really get hot and one can not enjoy.
The hotels and restaurants are pretty expensive and a weekend trip will cost you over 50K. But if you are prepared to pay that much it is a great golf course. And you can ofcourse enjoy the other part of the Aamby Valley.

Located amongst the Western Ghats & spread over 250 acres the 18 hole championship course is a 7087 yard, Par 72 layout designed by David Hemstock (UK). Some modifications & the driving range were then added by PGA Design consulting (UK) . It is part of the Aamby valley city which is a 10000 acre oasis. With mountains & hills surrounding the course on all sides and a vast expanse of lakes within, the air here is crisp and fresh. - See more at: http://aambyvalleygolf.golfgaga.com/#sthash.SHtLn4kd.dpuf

I've played this course about 3-4 times since arriving in Bombay for a multi-year assignment. All I can say is that it's very nice to be able to get out of the chaos of Bombay to spend some tranquil time in Aamby Valley.

The course is open for walk-ons so check out the course website for the email address. Be sure to book in advance and print out the email confirmation of your tee-time as it makes getting though the front gate security that much easier. Travel time to the course is about 45 min from Lonovala along a well paved but winding road. As others have mentioned, the security at the front gate is tight and they xray your bags before letting you pass. As for directions to the golf course from the guards because it's a good 10 minute drive still from the gate.

The course is very well managed and cared for. Greens are true and reasonable fast in speed. The course is also a tough one to play. Suggest you get on the course webseite(Google it) and they have a hole-by-hole strategy description, complete with pictures. Your caddies will also be extremely helpful with course management and putting. The current gree fees for visitors is 5000 INR, including cart, caddie, range balls, and water.

Treat yourself to a great golf game at Aamby Valley

I am American expat living in Mumbai and lifelong golfer (current 8 handicap). Played Aamby Valley this past weekend for second time. It is an absolutely beautiful layout and a very well designed course. People are very friendly and helpful. These are all the positives. Very nice range and practice area. The course gets less play than deserved and I suspect the maintenance budget is on tight side....which is showing in conditions of the tee boxes and most of the greens. The clubhouse is spectacular "Scottish Tudor" design, and very enjoyable and pleasant venue to have a post round drink or snack. However, it's the one place in India that does not have ENOUGH people, so they wanted to close up at 5 pm.

All in all, I recommend a visit and a round of golf, especially for those who might describe themselves as an "avid" golfer and looking to enjoy a day or two away from hustle and bustle of Mumbai !!

Had a great time here. I was over on business and got a ticket through pro golf connections to the Indian premiere golf league event. Had a total blast and having the all access pass allowed me to meet some of the pro golfers.
