Birla Ganesh Temple. Pune's tallest Ganesh Statue Near Talegaon
Oct 2019
One of the most striking features of this temple is that is not very much commercialized and offers the peace of mind to tourists. The views can be best enjoyed when you go to the temple by climbing the steps.Once reached to top of the hill you will mesmerize by seeing landscape filled with blanket of greenery. Ganapathi idol is almost 1000 tons with 72 ft height. Base is 54X54X18 ft. all these dimensions were planned in such a way that they add up to the number 9, considered auspicious. Founded 17 Jan 2009. This a birla family establishment and the idol was sculpted/created by Maturam Verma and Nareshkumar Verma of Pilani. It took 2 years for construction. construction is done by Cement, concrete & Copper. This is very beautiful view for the people who are travelling on old Mumbai Highway Location; It is located on old Pune-Mumbai highway. 10 to 15 Min drive from Somanate Tollgate. 2km away from Prati Shirdi.it is @ 35 km away from Lonavala. Facilities available: No food facility is available. There are benches at front side of the temple to get relax and stay back. Parking is available at charge of 25 INR per vehicle. Roads are narrow to reach here. Steps way is available to reach top of this temple which are 179 steps. Best time to visit: through out year is good to visit, but best time is rainy season to see beauty of landscape and surrounding waterfalls Nearby attractions: 1 Prathi shirdi temple 2. Sant. Tukaram Karma bhumi Dehu. 3. Ghorawadeshwar temple 4. Lonavala

Though except the big statue of Lord Ganesha there is no other place of interest, so if you are on Pune-Lonavala highway then you can visit the place.

I visited this place with family with 7 months twins. Its located on the left side when you cross the Somatane Toll post on old Pune - Mumbai Highway. Infact you can see this majestic beauty right from the highway.
Its a Big Ganesha Idol of almost 1000 tons.
Entry passage is narrow but enough for one car to enter at one time. Parking is available for 4 wheelers at just ₹25.
You will have to climb few steps( approx 300 steps - 18 feet) takes 5 min to reach there.
At the entrance there is small private nursery if you are looking to buy any flowers plants.
Once you reach at top, you will be mesmerised by the beauty of Big Ganesh Idol almost 1000 tons with height of 54 feet.
You can experience the fresh cool breeze, see the old & new Pune -Mumbai highway, Ghoradeshwar Temple Hill & if lucky enough you can see trains passing sideways of old express highway.
This place has no canteen or food stalls. You can get 4-5 benches at top to seat & get yourself relax.
Overall i would say, you can spend your 1- 2 hours here.

Side note: If you’re planning a one day outing you can include Prati-Shirdi ( just 5 min away from this place) or Lonavala.

Probably One of the Biggest & one of the most beautiful Ganesh Murti situated on Old Bombay Pune Highway as seen from around 5 Kms from road. After you cross the Somatne phata toll naka, you generally stick to the left side of the road. On the way to Shirgaon where Prati Shirdi temple is located, Just from the road we have one very small approach road where this temple is located. We have ample of parking space nearby to a nursery. The temple is extremely clean & well maintained. We have over 40-50 steps to climb to seek blessings of actual Ganesha Idol. Fortunately this place is not commercialized with vendors messing around as seen in other places. This place doesn't have any shade, so its well advisable to either visit early morning or late in evening. This place do have a small garden as well, which also seems to be clean, but was closed when we reached, so I doubt whether it is even open for public at any time. Myself had a very peaceful time spent with my better half. It actually feels good, safe when you see that Lord Ganesha is always looking at you .. :). I genuinely loved this place & will definitely visit this place again & again. Looking forward to visit this place during rainy season.

While going to Lonavala by Pune- Mumbai Expressway we could see the Ganpati Ji from behind.
On return we came by the Old Mumbai-Pune highway and had darshan of the Ganpati Ji from the road.
It's huge size is simply amazing.

we went by car and this is off old mumbai pune highway, just take a left turn after 1st toll plaza from pune direction. They have a parking place in the middle of hill and after that you need to climb stair. But it is manageable. Ideal time to visit in evening as it is an open place . Ganapti idol is huge and made of tons of metal . It is managed by Birla Trust. Photos are allowed
