Niravana is undoubtedly the BEST place to learn paragliding. I went for the elementary pilot course last week and had an amazing experience. Its a perfect blend of good hospitality, qualified instructors, best quality equipment and supportive people with very pleasant attitude. Recommend this place to everyone who wish to learn paragliding as adventure sport and also to people to want to just enjoy being in the air on tandem flights. That moment when you are in the air flying solo is just soooooo amazing.........nothing can be compared to that feeling........ I have to thanks guys @Nirvana for this surreal experience.

Learning to fly has been my life long dream. I tried parasailing a couple of times, where you are tied to a canopy wing which is tied to a moving vehicle, but the feeling of free-flying was what I still missed. Then I tried tandem paragliding with Nirvana Adventures and was convinced that that was the form of flying I wanted to learn. So I enrolled myself for their 4-day Elementary pilot course. The course fees include your stay at their dorms. The ladies dorm has 3 bunk beds with 6 person occupancy and an attached bath. It is basic but clean. On Day 1, the training starts in the afternoon with ground handling. You are taken to a large open ground and the basics of the glider such as the wing, the suspension lines and the harness are explained to you and you learn to lift the glider in air by simply running into the wind while your feet are still on the ground. We did this for over 2 hours and by the end of it I had bruised both my upper arms bcoz of the suspension lines rubbing against my skin and I had started to think this whole thing was a big mistake and that I should just give up dreaming! But on returning back to the Native place, that's the place you stay at during the course, chilling with fellow paragliders and after being treated to a hot wholesome dinner, I had renewed enthusiasm to continue the next day. On Day 2, post breakfast you attend theory and simulation sessions. And post-lunch you are taken to a small hill site and from somewhere midway you learn bunny hops. Bunny hops is actual solo flying but the focus is on learning to sit in the harness and to land on your feet. You are continuously guided on the walkie talkie by the experts. All you have to do is be alert and follow their instructions blindly. There are no words to express how I felt during this session, I was coming closer to realising my dream. And I was glad I hadn't quit the previous day. On Day 3, we started before sunrise. Breakfast was served on-site and then we had to carry our gliders, that weighed around 15 kgs, to the top of the hill. The view on top, like all hilltop views, was awesome. But we didn't have much time to appreciate it. Since paragliding is a sport that depends on the wind, we had to make the most of the current wind conditions. So I got attached to my glider, shouted ok into my walkie talkie and took off from top of the hill into the rising sun. The thrill of that first solo flight is yet unmatched. And I did a perfect landing too. Then I did 2 more solo flights that morning gaining more confidence with each. Unfortunately, the wind conditions were not suitable to fly in the afternoon, so we had a theory session and then we went for a walk to the serene lake, adjoining the Native Place, to watch the sun set. On the last day, we again left before sunrise and did a few more flights, this time learning to do the weight-shift turns while gliding. At the end of the session we also learnt to fold and pack the gliders. After reaching back we had to appear for a theory test and on passing that we were awarded our Elementary Pilot certificates. I felt like a schoolgirl again, receiving my elementary drawing certificate. I have loved this experience so much that I will definitely go back to complete the Club Pilot course. All credit goes to the instructors, the handlers and the equipment that Nirvana has. I can affirmatively say that Nirvana Adventures is the best school for paragliding in Kamshet. I have seen other school instructors taking help and guidance from the Nirvana team and the Nirvana team has willingly helped their competitors as they believe that safety of the flyer is paramount. My best wishes to team Nirvana.

The experience of flying in the air was superb and that on its own. I went for Elementary course. It requires effort initially but once you get the technique it's simple. The instructors are good. Only issue is carrying the glide up the hill. But you have porters on the site. Food and dorm facilities need upgrade. Overall a good experience.

Awful weather in Europe means where do you paraglide elsewhere in winter? Nirvana is definitely the answer. A piece of paradise indeed. The accommodation is as basic or luxurious as you can afford, but the beautiful gardens by the lake are for everyone, as are the unforgettable views from the many terraces where you can relax after a days paragliding. The paragliding itself serves everyone, from new pilots to XC enthusiasts. I was pretty rusty, but was soon enjoying dynamic thermals and smooth ridge lift. If you have a partner who isn’t a pilot, they can enjoy yoga, swimming, shopping in Kamshet or Pune. Food is included in the package, and it is never a disappointment, Early start? Breakfast is served at takeoff! Only downside for me was the firm (to say the least) bed. But I was assured that steps are being taken to ensure the comfort of those who prefer softer sleeping arrangements! I highly recommend Nirvana, and many thanks to Astrid, Sanjay and Stan for the unforgettable memories!

In Kamshet, what I have observed that the Paragliding Training School manage the disease (pilot training) instead of cure (making them confident independent solo pilots). The main business sense is to make money by keeping the trainee pilot always dependent on their instructions. The fear of unknown is embedded deep inside intentionally so that any spirit to explore or try anything new is buried. A very restrictive environment justified with safety and security. It’s kind of business of modern governments scaring and silencing their proactive citizens in the name of safety and security. The main advantage of this model is that trainee pilot will always fear flying out of school environment or trying any other site. The culture of spoon feeding will never allow him to be independent or simply delay the process. Basic training consist of two parts, one is Elementary pilot course and other is Club Pilot Course. Once you pass the Club Pilot training, you are supposed to fly within the club environment with radio instructions. In ideal circumstances, with continuous guidance flying under club environment, this next stage leads to some independent solo environment flying. But the moment a trainee pilot gets the Independent or Solo Flyer tag, he will no more be a milking cow or paying customer for the school. This fear of losing a regular paying customer force them to infuse only limited dosage.
