Good Zoo and you can spend 3-4 hrs. Plastic free hence don't carry any plastic and they will remove
    1. It is a huge zoo and it is hard to traverse on foot. Get a e-car and see all the animals. You have animals on right side and on left side you can see species of snakes and birds. 2. People litter and make the zoo dirty which is very bad, otherwise zoo is kept clean. 3. Ticket and entry takes time and you have to pay for DSLR also. You have multiple DP points and you would need DSLR to capture animals, hence I suggest to take your DSLR. 4. It is plastic free area and security will remove anything which is plastic and wrap your things on newspaper. I really liked it. 5. You can see turtle, crocodile, mongoose, peacock, vulture, eagle, zoo cats, deer, tiger, lion, elephant and many more animals. 6. Parking is there but it is always full. It can get hot in afternoon even though there are many trees. 7.

    Katraj zoo
Perfect destination for a day outing with friends and family. The place is clean and the environment is nice. Different wild animals are housed in this zoo including snakes and other reptiles. I'm happy to see that animals are not confined to those traditional cages we have been seeing since long in any other zoo, instead they have been provided environment similar to their natural habitat. They have ample space to do their daily behavioural activities. It is easy to observe, watch and learn how they actually live in wild. Animals are not dull and we can see them moving around their cages giving good visibility from every angle. Also impressed by the management in keeping healthcare and upkeep of animals by zoo authorities . Great efforts taken!!

Nice place for childrens, you can spend 3-4 hours there. You can keep your own snacks with you, and keep water bottle. Drinking water and toilets are there in every zone. Don't carry heavy baggage as you have to walk around all over zoo. Electric van is there but walking through will be good option. Visited on

Best and the Cleanest zoo you will ever see.
This is the best zoo I have ever visited..The area is large and the animals are in open space and not in cages..The animals are very healthy and disease free. Plastic is strictly prohibited in the zoo and we saw no garbage ,the surrounding of animal is also very well maintained which is a surprise for any place of attraction in India. The staff of the zoo is also very supportive .you can use the vehicle bus which is available in zoo as per your comfort. The best thing about the place is that the display of information about the animals which help us a Their are so many animals, you will surely enjoy the place ..I strongly recommend you to visit this place once .

I had a fantastic time - Bandya Mama
This place is very nice to visit with your family we had a nice experience, the charges per person is Rs 40 and Rs 10 for kids ... The problem is they don't have parking facility, we had to park our car in the close by private parking for Rs. 50/- but the parking space is congested. Inside park they have their own electric bus for the tour ... As the place is covered in large area , it's difficult for children and elderly people to cover it by walking so we booked the bus... The charges for the bus is again Rs 40/- per head , which I think is too much for just 45 minutes to 1 hour tour .

The first problem one encounters is the limited parking which is a nightmare. The zoo is spread over quite a large area but many enclosures are under construction. Due to the construction activity, it is quite dusty. There are many different types of animals and it is a good place for the kids. There is a lot of walking and carts are available if you want a quick round.

Katraj zoo is a ok place to take little children..it is well laid out with animals enclosure all around the katraj lake area..not many animals are there.one can see deer.tiger.lion.leopard etc..there are no international animals..Best way to see is take a zoo car ride.40rs a seat as walking with small children is difficult..car parking is not available. One has to take chance and park on the main road..! Picnic area and toilets inside the zoo.but no cafe! The govt can do a much better job of keeping more animals.more attractions like camels . monkeys.bears.giraffe etc..needs a lot of work to make it worthwhile to visit!

It is a very good place for children to go on a mini forest trip in a city. It was a good experience, also the area is clean. If you go on weekends, it becomes very difficult to park your car due to the crowd.

This zoo is located in Katraj area of Pune. It is spread over a vast forest area and there is a lake inside. One can avail of Yulu app-based bicycles and battery operated ride (at a cost) There are multiple toilets across the route. There is a snake park located inside the zoo itself.

However, it lacks in the following basic things - number of animals are very less, the route maps along the path are missing, there is no restaurant or eating place inside the complex, they only accept cash for the entry tickets despite a digital boom in the city and lastly parking of 4 wheelers is located very far from the entry gate.

We went there on a sat afternoon with our 3 year old son and he definitely loved it :) it's a huge property. They have a buggy ride for 40 rs which is a good way to explore.

But we did the buggy and revisited the animals again.

There are a good pick of animals- tiger, lion, wolf, leopard, elephant, cobra, monkeys.

There is no cafe inside so it's best to carry food or buy something from outside. Also they don't allow plastic stuff so it's best u carry it in u're own box.

I would definitely recommend it.

- If you are driving from Swargate, this lies on your left right after Bharti Vidyapeeth Campus. However, if you are coming from the opposite direction getting to it is tricky because of the one-way. Right at Bharti campus is a tunnel which you can drive through to cross the road and cross to the other side. Note that parking is allowed only outside the park - before the food stands start is the multi-level car parking

- Tickets are cheap at Rs 10 & Rs 5 for adults and kids

- Make sure you take the open mini-bus to see the wild animals section, as the enclosures (no cages) are very spread out & walking the whole section takes quite an effort. The mini-bus tickets & starting point is right in front of the entrance about 25 mtrs inside.
However, if you have a camera with you & want to take pictures avoid this bus as it does a super-fast round in 30 mins flat. Many of its stops do not allow you to step out.

- The wild animals section is on the left side of the entrance and on the right side is a reptiles section.
A wide variety of snakes which were the original inhabitants of this place is in this section.

- Not many birds except the peacock & eagles. Good view of the lake from this section.

- Quite clean, a lot of greenery, but there are patches where the sun hits hard. Make sure you carry ample water

- No rhinos, hippos, giraffes, zebras, lions so quite basic, BUT there is a White Tiger!
