A decent place next to the bird sanctuary. The boat ride is like 3-4mins walk :) and what surprised me apart from the birds is the food. They serve amazing local cuisine It was beyond my expectations. Our group stayed in rooms with 3 beds so 4-5 rooms were occupied by our group and 3 members were put up in each room. They have option of tents too. Rooms are decent so are the tents. Good place to visit during the weekend if you stay in Pune or Mumbai.

Spent 2 days with the team at Kranti Flamingo and had an amazing time here in this small lakeside village. Went for two boat rides and spotted many different varieties of migratory birds who flock here in huge numbers. The guides are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the local fauna. The accommodation facilities are basic and quite decent. The authentic Maharashtrian food cooked by the locals is absolutely delicious.

I had been hearing a lot about variety of birds at Bhigwan gives of sighting of almost all the prime bird species there and also creates great photographic opportunities . At times, 1,000-1,200 flamingos are seen. So decided to explore the place.
Its around 110 Kms from Pune and it takes around 1.5 Hours to reach the place.
The place has few rooms with attached bathrooms and also tents in case you wish to make it as an overnight activity(They arrange for campfire if informed in advance). Rooms will cost you @ 700/- and Tent @500 for a night.
Veg & Non Veg Food arrangements are also available at extra cost.
Boat Ride was amazing. The person had ample knowledge about the birds. The boat ride was close to an hour during which he took us to 3-4 spots where we could spot Flamingos, seagulls and other birds too. He kept on sharing his knowledge about various birds with us which was the best part.
Boat Ride rates are @ 800 if you want a private ride for your group(6-8 persons max). Else they charge @100 per person but you need to wait till 6-8 persons capacity is filled up.
Overall the experience was Excellent.

Excellent spot for bird watching. Dattatreya and Sandip, managing the place, are very helpful and courteous. The boat ride was exceptional. They have good knowledge of birds which makes the experience more enjoyable. Reach before sunrise to make the most of your trip.
We did not spend the night here but the place has a few dormitory rooms with common bathrooms. They provide food as well. Our breakfast and tea after the boat ride was satisfactory.

After taking the final diversion which led us inside Bhigwan, the last stretch of 2-3 kms was horrendous - kachha roads, with lots of ups and down. After the treacherous ride, we finally made our way to the Flamingo point managed by MTDC.

It is a cottage where they facilitate for food, stay and boat rides. So we stopped by and asked them to arrange for the breakfast and by this time we headed for the boat ride.

From the cottage, we drove for about a kilometer to reach to near the banks of the backwater from the Ujjaini Dam. The temperature is the key factor to the place being a home for the migratory birds.

The boat ride cost us Rs.800/- for 5 people. As we set into the boat, we sailed through the pristine waters. Water, sun and birds - just perfect weekend set up.

The boatman took us nearer to the spot where the birds were standing peacefully. As we neared, to avoid the birds being wary of our presence - he shut down the motor and started rowing instead - this helped us get a closer look at the birds.

After our boat ride for about an hour or so, we returned to the cottage where our hot breakfast was ready - poha - we were damn hungry, since there was no intake of food since the morning. The poha tasted good, garnished with sev and lime.

And to top it, the boatman even clicked few fabulous pictures.

There are clean washrooms also for one's use.

Cheers to life!!

A wonderful place for bird and nature lovers..

We visited the place on a weekday, last week of December, started at 4 AM and reached around 6:30 AM. Parked our car at Kranti Flamingo point, a guide reached out and quoted 900 for one and half hour boating.
We sealed at 800 bucks and went ahead, it was all water for atleast 2 kms due to late rains, and the guide wasn't confident about Flamingo sighting, however he called up other folks and got to know there are few at a point.
Our excitement increased and we also got to see quite a many other species on the way. There were around 10-15 Flamingos , few of them flew and got to view an amazing sight. Guide offered going further for watching other species, and we agreed at a total of 1500 bucks. Further 1 km and we got to see some of them very close by. Returned back and stopped by at two more points.
Returned back after 3 hours to the spot, had poha and chai at Kranti point which was okay.
There are also stay options and is economical and neat, but needs to be booked in advance.

To note:
Weekends are super busy so try a week day and leave a gap of one or two day after the weekend as crowds and flamingo don't go well together. Early morning boat ride is worth the efforts and bucks. Dslr with long lens is must if you are into photography.
Birds sighted -
Painted Stork
Purple Heron
Flamingo
Sea Eagle
Grey heron
Brown kite
Sea gulls

The migratory birds come to this area during the winters and are a treat to watch. Kranti Flamingo Point is located about 100 kms from Pune and is about 2 hrs drive on the Solapur Road. Easily accessible, with a dirt road of about 2 kms, which is probably going to ne mettalled. A one hour boat ride will cost Rs 800/- wherein the Boatman also double up as the guide. The Boatman is well conversant with the names of the birds in Marathi and English as also can carry out a conversation in English. The birds are aplenty and are a delight to watch. The Point also has 5 room accommodation which appears to be fairly decent. Washrooms also exist which are clean. Adequate car parking area available. I went on a working day, didn't have to wait for the boat at all. Seems on Sundays and holidays, there's quite a bit of rush and waiting involved. A must visit if you are close by

We are not very well versed with birds, however, wanted a break from the monotony and hence decided to go to Bhigwan for bird watching. Going by the reviewes we finalized on Kranti Flamingo point and extremely happy that we did so.
We reached just on time for the evening boat ride. It was an amazing ride and our guide, Mr.Kiran, is an Wikipedia on birds. He gave us a lot of information on the variety of birds that we spotted. To be honest, those who do not have much knowledge about birdd, for them it is difficult to know one from the other. However, the enthusiasm of our guide did wonders for us too.The entire boat ride was very enjoyable.

The stay was an overnight one in a clean room good enough for an overnight haul. The food was extremely tasty. The chicken and fish served were fresh and delicious. The veg pithla was tasty too.

In the night there was a night trail at the nearby tekdi. Again our knowledgeable guide helped spotting quite a few night animals ( chameleon, gecko etc.). This is thrilling for a child and adult alike.

The morning boat ride was specifically for the flamingos and we were not disappointed.

The staff at this place are very cooperative and again a special mention of the guide who was superb.

This time due to very high level of water in the lake the number of birds are less at this point of time. That was the only little disappointment that we had, else everything was great.

The Bhigwan is one the three important wetlands to attract west Monsoon rain clouds during (November to February) season to Pune. Moreover, the coastal climate of this place makes it easy and comfortable for tourists to spend long hours relishing and adoring the natural beauty of Bhigwan. Giving an impressive touch to the surrounding of the lake.
